Hey chronic pain girlies (gender neutral)~
So we’ve all gathered medical trauma in the ER right? How about we share some fun (read: sarcasm) stories about our trips there?
I’ll start with a mild one that somehow pisses me off more than the gaslighting and dismissive behavior:
One time I went because I started crying from severe pain while at a appointment with my GP and so my GP sent me to the ER with a note about getting me a CT scan (which I have since learned ER doctors HATE).
The ER doctor was so mad and kept acting like I was just faking my pain and gave me a CT scan like my GP requested but also ran a whole bunch of other tests all the while she was rolling her eyes at me. (And I was just curled up in a ball crying from the pain I was in lol)
Of course, the tests came back normal (#DatChronicPainLyfe) and she’s telling me like it was the most obvious thing in the world as I’m still crying from the pain I was in lol
But this is the part that still pisses me off:
After she’s done telling me, she looks down at my chart, cringes and goes “😬 Ooh, that looks like such an expensive visit.”
And then she quite literally gave me this look before walking away:
Bonus: in her doctor notes for my visit, she wrote that I was walking just fine and seemed normal despite having to get around everywhere in a hospital wheelchair and was a sobbing mess lol
