He wasn’t entirely sure when it had changed – the songs all blending into one seamless mass with little to no breaks between tracks – but somewhere along the line the music had taken a detour from adrenaline-inducing rock to something almost… sexual. No, it was definitely sexual; the lilting guitar mirroring Arwen’s breathy voice as she pressed her lips to the microphone and crooned…
Although there was something wrong with the picture. Yes, the song was incredible, the instrumentation fluid and beautiful… but the focus wasn’t on Arwen.
It was on Ori.
Despite not having a microphone, his lips were moving; unheard and subtle. As if it were his to sing.
“You’re so needy. Got your tongue between my teeth, boy, I’m so greedy.”
Those were not Arwen’s words. This was not her song, because Ori was radiant. His head was thrown the whole way back, hips pushed forwards against the frame, the slightest trickle of moisture running down from his chin to his collarbones. Somewhere in the recesses of his mind, Kíli’s voice loomed forwards unbidden.
I have genuinely never seen someone who exudes that level of raw horniness whilst playing a piano before.
Well, Fíli certainly had now. The position, the sweat… it was so utterly sexual that he was feeling a little hot under the collar himself.
And then Ori’s head rocked forwards and their eyes locked.
Even in the aftermath, Fíli wasn’t entirely sure if it had been the drums or his heart pounding in his chest, but something had.
When Ori’s lips lifted in the tiniest smirk as he rolled his pelvis forwards and against the piano…
Yeah. That was not the drums.

You trudge into the quarters you share with two other Dwarves, who at the moment are nowhere to be found. There is a scarcity of Dwarves within the royal bedchamber one might say, aside from yourself.
You certainly would if you were in a joking mood.
Wearily you shut the door behind you and lean against it, exhaling heavily, the weight of the terrible day you have just escaped holding you there like a rockslide which had fallen on top of you, burying you. Tears prick to your eyes which you do not even have the energy to swipe away.
That alone speaks to how horrible of a day you're having.
Eventually you feel when someone is attempting to open the door, so you step away from it, aware it is either one of your partners - Ori or Fíli.
For a moment your heart is less weary, knowing they are close, as they are both loving and gentle with you. That is what you need, as the world has yet again doled out pain instead.
When the door swings open first, it is Fíli who strides in, shortly followed by Ori. The latter shuts the door, whilst the former's eyes find your own and he frowns.
Both of them spy you standing there eventually, then share a look between them before acting.
Neither of them speak but instead come to bracket your body between them both; your face is pressed against Fíli's chest where you can smell his bath soap - sandalwood, as hands enter your hair, calmly stroking through it. Behind you, Ori wraps his arms around you and places his chin upon your shoulder.
Encased in their joint embrace, a part of you stitches itself back together.
Your eyes flutter shut as you breathe in the familiar scent of Fíli that is prevalent alongside his bath soap; pipeweed. It is sweet, much like both of the Dwarrow hugging you. At least in private they are amongst their family or friends, as much as with you or each other. Elsewhere, on the battlefield, both of your partners are sights to behold in their own ways, and not what anyone would deem sweet at all.
Regardless, were you to have Ori in front of you instead, you are aware that what would fill your nose is lavender, but either of the familiar scents will do. You are simply happy to have them nearby, surrounding you. Their appearance and subsequent reaction to the sight of you so downtrodden loosens something in your chest as the three of you remain tangled together, standing just in front of the bed you all share.
At some point, Fíli lifts his head from where it rests atop your own, then dips down to kiss your cheek, his mustache and beard grazing your non-bearded skin above your own beard.
"Do you wish to speak of what troubles you?" he asks.
For a moment you consider the question, then sigh against his chest, shaking your head.
You can feel Ori's hand carding through some of your loose hair as you gaze up into Fíli's cerulean eyes, which are non-judgmental but searching.
"Not yet," you say, tiredly, before returning your head to his chest.
Another time, perhaps, but for the moment you wish to put it all from your mind and soak up the tenderness that you are being afforded. That you know both of your partners would willingly give whether or not you are hurting.
A hand grasps the side of your face, a thumb stroking your cheek, and then the rumble of Fíli's chest reverberates beneath your head as he begins to sing softly, serenading only the three Dwarves present in the quiet that has been carved out for you, him and Ori. It is a familiar song which was written as much for Ori as it was for you, by Fíli.
Fíli's voice is deeper whilst singing than it is when speaking, and in hearing it again you find your heartbeat slowing, your thoughts becoming less fraught, for a short while. You press your face fully against his chest, kissing it when you realise the song will soon draw to a close.
As his singing concludes, you rise up and stretch, which brings Ori to stand beside his husband, directly in front of you. He smiles, then reaches out and wipes away the errant tears you had yet to.
"Thank you," you murmur, holding his gaze.
Ori nods, then tugs you into another hug, which you readily accept. Your arms wrap around his neck, while his own loop around your whole torso. It is then that the scent of lavender, which often clings to him, becomes quite noticeable.
You inhale deeply then exhale against his neck in a way that has you calm even more. A hand rubs your back soothingly, and you take comfort in Ori's touch, which is gentle but firm, much like Fíli's can be.
"I am sorry your day was so poor that it brought you to tears," Ori whispers against your ear, and you sigh in the crook of his neck.
Fresh droplets appear at the edges of your eyes unbidden, but you do not attempt to stop them from falling. Soon your body is wracking with the grief you cannot speak of, while Ori firmly holds you up, as proper sobbing begins.
The warmth of Fíli's body soon encases you from behind, and there you are once again sandwiched by your partners within their love, which is tender and healing.
In your heart you know that your softness is safe; protected by the love that embraces it. Proverbially and physically.
In time, you will move on from this moment. However, until that is possible, you are grateful to have two wonderful Dwarves to love you until such a moment where you are no longer aching. For though love cannot heal all wounds, having firm support as you handle your pain makes it that much easier to find the strength to.

Summary:
"Ori did not care that it was pouring rain, nor that he might catch a cold from waiting above ground. It had been months; days, nights and weeks of missing his One, wishing Fíli had been home.
Fíli was the King Under the Mountain though, and therefore there were duties he had to attend to that did not involve staying put. Sometimes Ori could go, but other times, it was best he remained in Erebor, to rule in Fíli's stead. So, this most recent diplomacy trip that was what Ori had done. However, he had more than enough of his husband not being home anymore.
At first sight of Fíli, Ori's heart swooped. He remained near the front gates though, because it looked like the King was leading the charge atop his pony, urging it on at breakneck speed. He was still a little way off though, so Ori stayed up on the battlements, waiting.
As Ori watched Fíli's approach, droplets of water began to fall, which was just their luck."

Summary:
Sigrid knows next to nothing about Dwarves, except some saved her and her siblings' lives when they were children, fifteen years ago. Since then, she has had little contact with them unless it was necessary for diplomacy.
Kíli knows something of Men but isn't terribly impressed, and even a bit wary of them, given their poor treatment of Dwarves at large.
Soon, they are to be wed when tensions between Dwarves and Men reach a boiling point. In each other, they will eventually find their One, as much as hearth and home.

Summary: Ori lost his memory in the Battle of the Five Armies, then disappeared for 20 years into the Iron Hills, where he was given refuge by Dain himself. It is only when Ori returns to Erebor as a Master Scribe who is part of Dain's diplomatic visiting envoy that it is discovered what happened to him.
9. One and the Same

Summary: Thorin and the rest of his company settle into Beorn's for a much-needed rest. Fíli and Kíli provide their companions with entertainment while Thorin considers the love life of his eldest sister-son, before being pulled into the beginnings of a love story all his own.

Summary:
Ori and Fíli were childhood friends who then became friends with benefits months ago, in their late 20s.

Summary:
In the wake of losing Fíli, Kíli and Thorin in the Battle of the Five Armies, those they left behind are grieving. Some more than others, including Ori, who carries not only his sadness, but more than one secret.
Dáin's right to rule is assured, though some believe binding a member of the Company to his son will help ease the transition for smoother relations amidst the rebuilding of Erebor. Ori has many reasons to ignore this, but just as many to offer himself up as the marriage candidate Thorin Stonehelm will wed.
What follows is the rest of his life and beyond, as he handles the weight of love and loss.

Summary:
Three sons of Durin once perished due to Azog's machinations, setting off ripple effects felt for ages after. However, one of their line, who entered the world following their deaths, refuses to accept that as their true fate.

After a conversation with Eru Ilúvatar and Nienna in the afterlife following another tragic event which harmed members of the line of Durin, Fíli's and Ori's son by birth is sent back in time, so he can attempt to rewrite history and give his family a better chance for true happy endings.
5. Just A Kiss

Summary:
A conversation in Bag-End before the Quest for Erebor occurs in earnest, leads to Ori's and Fíli's first kiss together.
As the journey continues on, that first kiss isn't the only thing that's unexpected.

While having known each other since they were pebbles, both Fíli and Ori will realize they have a lot to learn if their nascent friendship and arranged marriage have a chance of making it at all.

2. The First Spark

Summary:
Prequel to Let Me Be Your Fire.
Fíli finds himself the object of Ori's scrutiny after he's released from Oin's medical care. What follows is something he never could have been prepared for; Ori trusting enough in him to find temporary comfort, while neither of them is handling the aftermath of the Battle of the Five Armies particularly well.
3. Wanna Know What Love Is? (The Interlude)

Summary:
Fíli, Ori and Kíli spend time in the Shire, learning more about it and Thorin's future husband.
Fluff and family feels ensue, while they work out their own dynamics amongst themselves, too.
Fíli, Bofur and Ori share their bodies while emotions take root between all of them at last.
OR: Bofur and Ori pleasure not only their partner, Fíli, but also each other. As that happens, feelings are realized, leading to the beginning of a throuple between them all.
5. Tender, With Teeth
Pairing with Trans Character: Fíli/Ori (Trans!Male Ori)
Summary:
What begins as Ori only intending to share a bed roll with Fíli for warmth one night, eventually turns into the acquaintances becoming curious about each other after, then falling in love over the course of the quest despite others wishing they would just leave each other be.
Meanwhile, Thorin is doing his best to be a good example for his eldest sister-son and not act on the urge to let himself be wrapped around one specific Hobbit Omega's fingers. However, he fails spectacularly.
The rest, as some say, is history.
6. The Shape of You
Pairing: Fíli/Ori (Trans!Male Ori)
Summary: Ori requests to draw Fíli one day, eventually leading them to tracing the planes of each other's bodies instead.
7. Kiss Me Too Fiercely, Hold Me Too Tight
Pairing: Fíli/Ori (Trans!Male Ori)
Summary:
"Ori glanced up at Fíli, and the expression he was met with warmed his heart and lit a fire in his veins. Before he could think better of it, he pressed upwards and kissed him again. It was in this motion that he found himself allowing his worries to fade away, torched like papers tossed into flames."
OR: What happens beneath the mistletoe doesn't stay beneath the mistletoe, which eventually leads to Fíli and Ori resolving the tension that is between them, then later on finding a love that will last. (Also known as: The section of the holiday romance I'm writing for them, which can be read alone, and is meant as a companion to it so I can keep that fic rated T. Lol.)
8. Hands
Pairing: Fíli/Ori (Trans!Male Ori)
Summary:
What began with a preoccupation regarding Ori's hands, became so much more for one new King Under the Mountain as the years trekked on.
Little did the aforementioned monarch know, a certain Master Scribe had long been considering his hands, too, for many more reasons than he could have anticipated. This remained the case, until one fateful day when many revelations occur, at last.
9. Teeth
Pairing: Fíli/Ori (Trans!Male Ori)
Summary: Ori and Fíli have a private moment together involving a liaison of the flesh.
10. Need
Pairing: Fíli/Ori (Trans!Male Ori)
Summary:
Ori misses Fíli, carnally, and in general.
One day, when the unaddressed physical need becomes too much, he tries to deal with that quickly, so he can get on with his duties as the King's husband without less chaste thoughts dogging his heels as he does. However, the King himself catches him in the act, and then makes different plans for them both, that Ori is more than okay with, actually.
11. Endless Love
Pairing: Fíli/Ori (Trans!Male Ori)
Summary: Ori and Fíli are in love and appreciating each other again physically; tangling once more, endlessly.
12. A Series of Moments

Summary:
In the aftermath of the Battle of the Five Armies, no one is doing well.
However, amidst the ashes and scars of a slowly rebuilding kingdom, a new love takes root. Eventually, over time, it blooms.

Summary:
Ten years after they graduated Uni, former friends Ori and Fíli cross paths at a reunion to commemorate that day, then each agree to attend an after party following it.
The problem is that Ori chose to ghost Fíli all those years ago, thinking his love for one Durin in particular unrequited. However, he is soon made aware that was the last thing he should have done.
Flirting, fucking, and fluff ensue, before the rest of their life together begins, too.
14. Fools
Pairing: Fíli/Ori (Trans!Male Ori)
Summary:
Fíli meant to seek his friend out in the library to spend time together. His plans change when he realizes that Ori is in heat, as this presents a large problem for the Alpha, who has also been secretly pining for the Omega for some time.
Fíli does his best to be respectful of their friendship and leave Ori's presence until it all passes.
However, the scribe has other ideas that lead to a much better outcome than Fíli previously thought possible.
15. Love Me Tender
Pairing: Fíli/Ori (T4T)
Summary:
Fíli, Ori, Gimli, Legolas, Kíli and Tauriel take a trip together for part of Kili and Tauriel's summer hols away from Uni.
The other four pair up, leaving only one bed for Fíli and Ori to share.
Though lifelong friends, neither of them has ever addressed the elephant in the room that is their mutual desire for a proper relationship, or the fact that they both have been in love with each other for years.
That changes, when Ori quietly suggests they both share the room, rather than leaving Fíli to sleep on the sofa, as he had originally meant to.
So, in true Hobbit fashion, it is my birthday this week and so, I commissioned my dear friend @youbetyourbuttons , who is an AMAZING AND STELLAR artist to do a piece based off of the version I wrote of Fíliori in Tender, With Teeth. Now, we have here the finished product, which is just the best thing ever and they did the most WONDERFUL, BEAUTIFUL job. If you haven't checked out their other work, please do!!!
