I just noticed something.

The little cronckle in httyd3 is called Fishmeat, which is a combination of the names from Fishlegs and Meatlug. I think Fishlegs and his beloved cronckel were co-parenting Fishmeat, which sounds pretty much like something Fishlegs and Meatlug would do.

You know one detail that I really like from The Nine Realms? How these kids are so different from the Dragon Riders simply by virtue of not having grown up in a Viking society torn by war.

Because violence isn't their number 1 priority. It wasn't the Dragon Riders' either, but that is purely because they had Hiccup for a leader. This, although Hiccup was no stranger to violence and would hurt a dragon if the situation called for it.

Reminder that the name of the baby Gronckle Fishlegs carried during the hidden world is…Fishmeat

There’s two small things in THW that drive me nuts.

After Grimmel takes all the dragons it cuts back to the riders looking devastated but in Fishleg’s armor you can see Fishmeat smiling and panting like a puppy.

Like…did he not notice his own mother was just taken away by the bad guy???

Also later when one of the villains points his weapon at Fishmeat and Fishlegs responds “I wouldn’t do that if I were you,” I get why they made the Crimson Goregutter attack that guy since it’s funny seeing that escalate to having from threatening a tiny baby to being attacked by such a huge dragon, and the friendship between the two of them was adorable and all, but I guess Meatlug protecting her own child from danger failed to cross anyone’s mind.

I mean, even Fishleg’s first thought wasn’t “I wouldn’t do that if I were you, my beloved dragon Meatlug is that baby’s mother and she’ll defend her baby at all costs”.

Instead it was “I wouldn’t do that if I were you, this huge dragon who just happens to be friends with that baby won’t like it. Man, it’s such a good thing Fishmeat has such a protective friend. Too bad he doesn’t have a mom.”

As ugly things involving the gang's dragons go, Meatlug not caring about her baby until the end of the movie when she's like "Give him here, Fatso" and Fishmeat not caring about her is tied with Barf and Belch smacking Tuffnut in the head on their way out of his life forever.
