very happy to be back to studying for my own pleasure rather than for a degree I’m feeling uncertain about - read & gave feedback on a friend’s term paper and made anki cards to get back into studying croatian - still trying to figure out how they actually work, but we’re getting there. Also cleared out my notion pages & mail account since I’m on term break now :)

For those who enjoy anki, but hate vocab lists:

This guy has made sentence decks for quite a few anime and even some youtubers. These decks have audio, hiragana, kanji, a picture and a translation (I downloaded the one for spirited away). When you hover over the sentences you will also be able to see the sentence that came before the audio piece and the one that will follow.

You can get them for free, however if you are a generous person then you can also make a donation.

*BEWARE: anime ≠ real life, however it does help with listening comprehension and the general understanding of the language.

*Another note: a lot of these sentences are translated literally which makes it easier to understand. But obviously in the movie itself they are translated more freely f.e. 一本下の道を来ちゃったんだな. In this deck: 🔹 You ended up coming via the road one down, huh. In the anime: 📺 I must've missed the exit.  So perhaps it would be useful to add the movie translation seperately. I used the little '📺' icon to differentiate between them.

Anki users: how do I delete all the reversed sides of my double-sided cards without deleting the whole card?

I've been making "basic and reversed" cards for my koine greek vocab but I just want to study gr -> en from now on ("basic"/card 1) and get rid of my en -> greek cards ("reversed"/card 2), when I tried selecting only the card 2s and deleting them the entire card got deleted as well and I had to undo

豆奶 vs. 豆浆

i am currently making anki flashcards (i have over 60 overdue cards to make...) and one of the words was 豆浆 meaning soy milk. i knew that 豆 is a character in bean-like things just like soy, but i was so confused about 浆 because i know that it is not milk... but i checked that fact go check that (nct 127 reference) and it actually means thick liquid!! (because soy milk is not like cow's milk obviously) it makes so much sense!!!
