Hey everyone, how are ya? It’s been a pretty relaxing day today. I watched Avatar, read, took photos, now I’m going to BUJO a bit. Yes, I do this all the time if I’m interested in a book or if I want to procrastinate doing other things. 🖤When did you get into reading? I was in fourth grade when I fell in love with the magical world of reading. I actually used to hate it so much but then I found the right book & everything changed. 🖤Do you get sick reading in a car? I don’t get sick being in a car in general. I love being on the road. If I could, I would drive to cross the street😂 🖤Do you read comics & manga? I am a huge lover of comics so yes. GUYS GUYS GUYS. I want to introduce you to one of my favorite books by @colleenhoover: CONFESS. ▪︎ ▪︎ 🌿Synopsis: Auburn Reed is determined to rebuild her shattered life and she has no room for mistakes. ✨Have you ever been to a book signing?⁣ ⁣ ⁣ Sorry I've been MIA, guys 🙈⁣ Last weekend I went with @mitzicarrollediting and @authorjcv to the Indy Author Event in Indianapolis, then after the event, my aunt and uncle picked us up and drove us to Kentucky to spend a couple of weeks with my mom's side of the family. I'm still exhausted from the book signing, lol 😴⁣ I'm dealing with some mental and physical exhaustion, which I'll be writing about soon on my blog. The first thing that struck me when I began the Queens of Renthia series was the delightful--and blessedly familiar--Hogwarts-esque atmosphere of the Northeast Academy and the relationship amongst the candidates. It was that genuine feel of belonging that just really touched my soul. I really loved the aesthetic of Aratay in particular—a collection of villages nestled in the canopy of an ancient forest, complete with mystical spirits who want nothing more than to murder, but are fascinating nonetheless. It became very apparent as I read that Durst is extremely well-read--in the fantasy genre especially--and it is glaringly clear that her knowledge lends itself so well to this story. I think that is a prime reason I enjoyed these books so very much: she compounds upon quintessential fantasy elements without being derivative. The intricate world building is reminiscent of my other favorites: Tolkien and Lewis and Martin. Hullo. So I might need to be stirred away from discount bookstores because I have bought quite a lot of books recently... Including today with these 4 *sigh* My wallet might be somewhat neutral about it because the books are cheap, but the limited shelf space in my house is crying!
