The future of Star Wars gaming.
Sebulba is taking his break up with Tay'lor Spiff really well.
Star Wars: Galactic Racer (2026)
Since we're getting Zero Company, Fate of the Old Republic, and Galactic Racer, here's what I want to see. Hopefully, one of these happens, but there are always chances for a DLC even if none of them do.
Zero Company:
Grievous makes an appearance or at least gets mentioned like Fallen Order and Outlaws, but a bit more
Pre-cyborg Karbin gets mentioned
Durge makes an appearance or gets mentioned
IG-100 MagnaGuard
Battles I'd want to see get mentioned, like Akiva, Hakara, Tovarskl, Honoghr, Operation Durge's Lance (Duro and Humbarine), and others
Fate of the Old Republic:
Kaleesh companion
Kalee
I would want the Kaleesh to look more like the statues in the episode Lair of Grievous rather than The Old Republic's three-fingered hand and humanoid leg
Xivhkalrainik gets a major redesign
Gen'Dai
Galactic Racer:
Kaleesh or a Yam'rii racer
Hypori (may be similar to Jakku, but half the race is an abandoned droid factory)
Felucia
Dathomir
Mygeeto
I hope there’s a running gag in Galactic Racer that Sebulba keeps telling people he raced Darth Vader but no one believes him.
I really really like the fashion in Star Wars, specifically vests and jackets. Idk that shit tickles me brain.
I've been playing a whole lot of Star Wars games lately and I decided to compile a bunch of cancelled, released, and upcoming/rumored games to see what is on the horizon/was on the horizon in the past. I've been playing Outlaws today and realized I should make a post with upcoming, rumored, and just some games I'd like to see them make.
First, I'll list the games that we know are upcoming.
1. Star Wars Galactic Racer - This was announced at the Game Awards last year with a gameplay trailer shortly after just last week. I am pretty excited for this one as we haven't gotten a really focused gameplay experience since Squadrons in 2020, and I'm not even sure Disney did release a niche product even before that.
2. Star Wars Zero Company - Announced last year with a release date slated for this year, I'm also very excited for this one. The Clone Wars era isn't really my favorite but we haven't even gotten a real story set in that period from Disney in the video game realm. It's also being worked on by alumni from the XCOM games so I'm really hopeful that this one will be unique and take us back to the days of peak LucasArts.
3. Star Wars Eclipse - coming from the same studio and game director who worked on games such as Detroit: Become Human, Heavy Rain and Beyond Two Souls, not much is known other than it will have more action game elements than their previous titles and it'll be set during the High Republic. The reveal trailer was great but we know now that it was just to get developers involved so I'm cautious towards it really having any hints toward what the story will be.
4. KOTOR Remake - This one was originally being worked on by Aspyr Entertainment who have modernized many old LucasArts games for newer systems but has since been moved to Saber Interactive. They worked on the newest Warhammer 40k Space Marine game and I'm honestly pretty optimistic toward this one. I hope it sticks to its D&D roots but to be honest I'm expecting a more linear version of a Skyrim-like gameplay experience.
5. Untitled Amy Hennig Project - Amy Hennig is an alumni from the Uncharted series and actually had two cancelled projects under EA, the second has some lesser known details but the first was expected to be a more linear version of Star Wars Outlaws titled Project Ragtag. From what I've heard of development Hennig is a huge fan of Star Wars and I'm really excited to see what she comes up with.
6. Fate of the Old Republic- Definitely the biggest announcement of the Game Awards, FOTOR is a spiritual successor to the first two KOTOR games with the game director of both returning - Casey Hudson. I am very excited to see what he's working on, and he stated he's going to try to get it out before 2030. Expect a December 2029 release date lol.
7. Star Wars Jedi: 3 - I almost forgot to write this one in. It hasn't had an official reveal, but Cameron Monaghan did state they were working on another one, and after the over-expectation success that the first game had as well as the critical success of the second game, it's pretty safe to say that the trilogy will be rounded out. Stig Asmussen, the game director of the first two games, did unfortunately part ways with Respawn Entertainment but he has stated he has no ill-will, and he was just given an opportunity to work in a game company with industry friends of his. So it's very likely that whatever plans he had to round out the trilogy will be taken seriously by the rest of the team.
Next I'm gonna compile some of the rumored games I've heard about. Starting with the one I find to be most likely.
8. Total War: Star Wars - This was leaked alongside Total War: Warhammer which debuted a trailer at the Game Awards last year as well. The leak also stated that Warhammer was further along development than Star Wars was so with Warhammer's more recent announcement it's pretty safe to say that this one is real, but take it with a grain of salt.
9. KOTOR 2 Remake - During a lawsuit involving Aspyr Entertainment for the cancelled KOTOR 2 Restored Content add-on there were leaked documents that revealed a KOTOR 2 Remake was being considered, the details are a bit hazy otherwise and I'm unsure if this is entirely to be trusted as a real upcoming game but, personally, I think if Disney really pushed for a KOTOR Remake set within their new canon followed a year later by KOTOR 2 Remake, then followed again by FOTOR that they could really sell Lucasfilm Games as a serious producer of quality AAA titles whilst giving more developers interest in the brand. Especially considering Star Wars Outlaws didn't meet expectations and their big 10 year deal with EA has soured the opinions of many gamers.
Now I'm going to move onto things that haven't been confirmed, but I'd personally like to see.
10. Star Wars Squadrons 2 - Lately I've been getting really into flight sims and SW Squadrons is genuinely one of my favorites. It's so fun, it has the perfect amount of complexity and it's fleet battles are a genuinely great tug-of-war between teams of 5. The more focused experiences are so good and I really hope to see a sequel with more eras, more ships, more customization, and the ability to lock S-foils in attack position!
11. Star Wars Outlaws 2 - Outlaws isn't perfect by any means and I find myself really wanting a more improved experience over the first game. I would really enjoy exploring planets like Nal Hutta, Nar Shadaa or even the lower levels of Coruscant like we got to see in Jedi: Survivor. I would especially like for them to take a break from Tatooine since it's a planet we see constantly and not a very interesting one to explore at that.
12. Star Wars Battlefront 3 - I couldn't make a wishlist section without bringing up this elephant in the room. It's not one I particularly care a lot about but it's one that I would play regardless (whether I like it or not)
13. This one I don't really have a title for, but we do need some kind of free-to-play, freemium, corss-platform type Star Wars game that will bring in a big online audience that can keep it alive. The fact that we haven't seen even the concept of this sort of project come back since Assault Squadron(?) in 2013 is really damning for the IP and I'm honestly getting real tired of Fortnite crossovers.
I know this is a super long read so if you've made it this far, thank you!! I also apologize for some of the more corporate sounding language, I really am not pro-capitalist by any means but this is an intellectual property owned by a pseudo-monopoly so it's hard to avoid. Once again, thanks for reading and please if you have more game ideas within the Star Wars universe comment them!! I'd love to hear what you all think!
