Rune Meditation - Ingwaz
Ingwaz walked with me near the graveyard I envision when thinking about grave mounds. He spoke about gestation and I saw a pregnant horse resting on the ground. He said when a new life is forming we cannot see it directly, but there are signs that it's happening (like the growing of the pregnant being's abdomen). Similarly, bodies decaying to become soil isn't a process we see, but observing new plant growth or animal life near the burial site indicate that the body is returning to and nurturing the earth. On a more spiritual level, we also don't see souls either entering those new and forming bodies or leaving the dead and decaying bodies. It was all about mystery - knowing there is change occurring and something new on the way (through growth and transformation) without seeing what exactly is happening. In that way, gestation and decay mirror each other as unseen processes of change. (This particular point reinforced my UPG of ingwaz being related to life cycles/birth and death.)

"Many of us resist transition because we fear the journey found in the liminal space, where there is no clear direction forward. But in order to arrive at a new beginning, we must go through it. Much like the chrysalis of a butterfly or the gestational period in the womb, the liminal stage is marked by a period of waiting in the dark."
Kristen Roderick, Excerpt from online course On Fallow Ground.
