I have seen absolutely 0 of what you're describing and I think you have some weird vendetta about your personal headcanons not being popular (anymore) and you're somehow leaving it out here?? Which is hilarious, just how misplaced can a person find themselves.

No one of sane mind thinks Dan is a gym bro. No one wants to suppress Dan's feminine side, the lesbians on my Twitter timeline are begging for Dan in dresses day- in and out. Whining about Phil as a "housewife princess" as a gender essentialist issue is hilarious, considering what people are picking up on is Dan absolutely spoiling him shitless with endless birthday celebrations, gifts, desserts, "lovingly made coffees" etc., which would a) make Dan the "housewife" and b) expose you, as people rightfully picking up on that dynamic don't do so because of gender essentialism, but YOU decided it means people think he's "feminine".

Fanfic writers write stories. We don't know these people, we will never know these people. We know what they choose to share with us, and never the full picture. You might think you do, but you don't. What we do in fanfic and fandon is our playground - they stay out of it for very good reason, because they know this, and they know fandom. They'll make their jokes about bottom and top to rile us up, but in the end it doesn't matter, because no couple that's been together for 16 years will be locked to one permanent position anyway.

So what we create is stories based on, not even solely what we see, but also what we like to imagine, what we'd like to see, or in exploration of something. It's creative, and it's fun, and it's nothing more: a story, in which we borrowed some characters and traits and dynamics we're interested in exploring.

Writing takes time, and effort, and a lot of passion, and they're sharing it with you for free.

At the end of the day, it's our story to tell exactly how we want to. Dan and Phil know this, and they're staying out of it and I have full faith that if they can do it, so can you. Don't read what you aren't interested in. Just keep scrolling. Hell, block authors if they irk you. Write your own stories, if you're so sure your vision is the only one amd you get to talk about quality definitively. But what we're not gonna do is in random people's inboxes to do useless shit-ons on other people's work. People like you, from the bottom of my heart, deserve for a fandom to starve of any art, because you clearly don't know how good you have it, if you're out here trying so hard to create a hostile environment for authors because you can't handle that someone characterized them differently from how you'd want them to.
