Imagine this... from Derek's POV. Just him thinking it all over, all of his mistakes, his grief, his anger, as he watches Stiles play with their child. This utter joy in his heart he thought he'd never get. That he doesn't deserve, right in his palm, carved out of the moon itself. A sliver of a beautiful life. These days, his fights are about letting the younger crowd of his pack stay after curfew or not. These days, when he smiles, he doesn't think of hiding it.

He can be happy and show it too. And he has Stiles by his side. The human who was a stranger once but is a solid rock by his side, sidled up to him every chance he gets.

He has a husband. Children. Betas who aren't with him because they have to be, or because they're scared, but because they want to be.

He has a pack.

He's home.

Anyhow I loved the thing you wrote, HE DESERVES TO BE A DAD. On another note, and here I rub my hands like an evil fly with malicious intent, angst time.

Au where somehow, his kid became Amelie's herald instead of him. In my own brainworm parties I always imagined that he'd maaaybe have his own porter outfit if any of his reputation was still intact, and he disappears (bc of Amelie, presumably kidnapped or dead) and his kid starts searching for him but unfortunately runs into Amelie who promises info on Higgs as long as they help her bring about exctintion.

I think it would be just. So depressing to see his kid repeat his mistakes, or mainline verse Higgs just seeing.. a what if of what could have happened.

Anyhow I hope my angst hammer hit sufficiently hard >:>

I'm so glad you loved it! I do plan on writing more about him as a dad, so stay tuned! I can imagine having to hold him back cause he's gonna beat someone up cause they were rude to his child? Or playing guitar together? So many options.

Also don't worry about being angsty, my mind went there immediately. My brain immediately decided to be soooo mean to our baby boy.

I recon Higgs will be stuck on the Beach, having decided not to follow Amelie anymore. He finds out he's having a child and then decides not to herald in humanity's extinction, so as a punishment maybe Amelie traps him there. But she waits until the child is older, gives him some time with them so that when she takes him away, it's so much worse. He'd be stuck, constantly remembering all the times spent with his child. And then the child, maybe they're 18 or late teens, tries to find him.

My heart is broken and it's not even written 。°(°¯᷄◠¯᷅°)°。
