being 2d helps a lot too but i honestly think they look great (cant say the same for the series tho)

What’s your quintessential winx episode? Not necessarily your favorite, but one that captures the gist of the show as a whole

I hit control-z to fix a sentence and tumblr deleted half my reply so HERE WE GO AGAIN:

Hallowinx! (2x16) is the first answer that comes to mind. It’s such a classic Winx episode and hits all the boxes. Said boxes include:

Fun magic elements: The girls are doing a research report on Halloween, and do said research at a Halloween party. They also use their fairy forms as costumes. Iconic behavior.

A sprinkling of found family: It’s established Mitzi always made fun of Bloom, and when she invites Bloom to her party just to humiliate her, she shows up with her new friends and they’re the best. They’re all super close, they’re all fun, and they upstage Mitzi at her own party. Bloom used to really take Mitzi’s words personally, but she doesn’t in this episode because she’s found a group she belongs with and loves.

A sprinkling of mystery: The Winx deal with the mystery of the Three Sisters, even though it’s just Mitzi being the Worst. Which leads into…

Mitzi gets wrecked at her own party: Again, iconic. Deserved. We love to see it. There are also so many fun pop culture references, Musa and Flora flirt with random guys? So great. Everyone has so much fun! Even the pixies get a minute to shine, which is great for me, vehement defender of the Little Big Shots episode.

At the end of the day as long as there are some magic shenanigans and the Winx girls are together having a good time, you’ve got the show. That’s its core, and why it works so well. And Hallowinx is the perfect example of that.

Also yes I linked the 4kids one, here’s the RAI English episode for everyone else. Though I do think that version is longer and has more pop culture references, so it’s got a leg up.
