Rev Runner Headcanons
Rev! My personal fav of the Loonatics, he's such a cutie!
-Being from a rich family (at least for Gutters and even then, they aren't THAT rich in the grand scheme of things), Rev was somewhat sheltered from the state of the world. He knew things weren’t GREAT for the Gutters, but never knew how bad. It was only when he joined the Loonatics did he see just how horrible things were.
-Rev was the third member to join the team. He kind of idealized the notion of being a superhero ever since he was a child and thus, was eager to join the team as soon as he could.
-One of Rev’s WORST flaws is that he’s very scatterbrained and forgetful. His thoughts are very disorganized and jumbled in general, so he doesn’t easily remember things and often has to ask people to repeat themselves multiple times, frustrating the other person.
-Another of Rev’s flaws is that he relies a LOT on stereotypes to inform his viewpoints of other people. This isn’t Rev’s fault completely, as it’s a habit his parents put in him since he was little. Ever since he met Tech, he’s been trying his best to work on this flaw but it still comes out from time to time.
-A bad habit of Rev is that he overpromises (a habit he got from his dad). He makes all these grand statements and promises and then when the actual result comes out, people get VERY disappointed.
-One of Rev’s favorite things to do (aside from running) is commuting and sightseeing. He loves going to all sorts of destinations and finding new things to see along the way! And in Acmetropolis (despite how dirty and polluted it is), there’s always something new to spot!
-Rev REALLY likes the art of origami and kirigami and does it in his spare time! However, he has a bad habit of cutting the paper up too fast and getting all sorts of papercuts.
-Rev also REALLY likes carnival and arcade games. Surprisingly, he's better at the former than the latter. In terms of arcade games, he’s really only good at air hockey. He kind of tends to try and use his speed as an advantage in arcade games and it doesn’t go well for him.
-Rev has a…mixed relationship with his parents, though it’s slowly starting to strain, especially with his dad. He loves them, he knows they mean well…but he wishes they weren’t so oblivious to how they treat others (especially Tech). He’s been trying to break down their stereotypical viewpoints slowly and steadily. It’s not working well.
-Rev and Rip got along VERY well when they were younger and were practically inseparable. It was only when their father started putting pressure on Rev specifically to be heir that their relationship started to strain...specifically because Rip viewed Rev as LIKING the increased attention when Rev actually didn't.
-Rev and Tech are incredibly close, despite having a rather rocky start. They absolutely have been growing feelings for each other, but the problem is that they're both so oblivious to the feeling of romantic love that they honestly can't tell that they ARE in love. (Mallory/Mastermind was the one who had to tell Tech she liked him that way and even then, Tech still treated their relationship as if they were 'really close friends'). It annoys their teammates immensely, especially Duck (who was actually the first one to tell that they liked each other more than normal).
What exactly is Rev.'s family like here? You've already mentioned Rip, but what about the rest of his family? Because whenever Rev is mentioned, his family inevitably comes up in the discussion...:'3
Honestly, I don't have much to say about them because I do not really care about them compared to the other characters
Except Rev's mom, because I am pretty peeved that her only character trait is 'mother, unlike her husband & sons.
So first of all, I'm divorcing Ralph & Harriet.
Ralph's overall personality will stay the same, though the reason behind his attitude towards his sons is projection. He puts too much pressure on Rev do be perfect & he practically neglects Rip because he isn't, because Ralph was like Rip when he was his age, & this man is too dense to break the generational bullcrap going. This is why Harriet divorced his stinky self. Rev also inherited his inventive side.
He's also the descendant of Roadie.
& Harriet is a real adrenaline junkie, mainly spending her free time sky-flying, but her main profession is an underwater veterinarian/rescuer.
The only reason she lets them stay under Ralph's care is because she doesn't have enough time for both her job & her kids, & she wants to keep both her sons, & the oceans safe. She does try to be with them whenever she can, however. Rev inherited her heroic & hyperactive side.
I kinda want to add her into my rewrite of the Adolpho episode #TBHHH because I love that episode but it also annoys me to no end.
Anyway, Ralph disapproves of Rev's hero work & wants him to join him in inventing for the family business, & he has no idea that Rip has his own team, probably because he doesn't give a crap about him.
& Harriet is extremely supportive & encouraging of Rev's hero work, even giving him some advice when helping others. She's the only one who knows about Rip's team, & reluctantly agrees to keep it a secret, as long as Rip promises to stay safe.
So I drew Ma and Pa Runner… again.
I couldn't say I don't like my old Harriet redesign. I didn't reseignated from it. I just wanted to make some reforms in designing characters. Make them more simple and clear.
I did this art of Harriet and Ralph Runner last year. I’ll be busy this month revising my Loonatics Unleashed Little mermaid au
Shout out to @cybercoke’s design for Harriet that inspired my version.
Please don’t disturb me, I’m going to be very busy doing Mermay art this weekend
