Shuro meets a cute kitty
This talk about momdaughter OCs inspired me to do some drawing. Here's a rough sketch/WIP of some characters from my setting, the Endless Steppe.
Begum Amutharh was born and raised on the steppe. Thirty seven years old and an emissary of the Cinnabar Horde, she's well-versed in warfare, diplomacy and leadership, but she's felt a little adrift since the death of her husband. Her three beloved daughters are her guiding light, and she has begun travelling widely with them so they might learn the skills they'll need to succeed her.
Kwelkett, the eldest, is autistic and quiet, but first in line to step into her mother's shoes. She's received plenty of training, but fighting makes her uncomfortable, and she's rather indulge her interest in history by learning the myths and genealogy of her family. Amutharh adores her for her patient and hardworking nature, and could easily be accused of favouritism. Kwelkett, for her part, has deep-seated and shameful feelings towards her mother that go beyond familial affection, and is determined never to tell anyone this ever.
Yaskett and Shexkett are more outgoing and typical of girls their age. Despite being younger and physically less impressive than their sister, they're more effective fighters and could easily surpass her as they mature. Kwelkett doesn't mind in the slightest, as this would ease the burden of leadership on her. Yaskett is wonderfully friendly and open-hearted, if not very bright, while Shexkett is remarkably astute for her age, already able to hunt, navigate and pitch camp for the family.
Hmmm. I wanna try writing a shipcest/fauxcest fic that doesn't revolve around smut, as smut is what I usually write, and I'd like to push the envelope a little.
I have an idea in mind for a Dungeon Meshi au involving fem!Shuro. I'm toying with the name Chiako as a name for her. Toshiro means something like dutiful son (if Google can be trusted), while Chiako is, roughly, wise daughter. I think it's a pretty nice parallel.
Anyhow, the way things go is that Chiako's mum and dad undergo a messy divorce over the latter's fooling around with Maizuru, and he subsequently marries her. Chiako is initially really distrustful of Maizuru, who she sees as an interloper in her family even more after this, but they have to play nice to keep up appearances. After a few years, with no male heirs forthcoming, Mr Nakamoto again begins dabbling in affairs, with Maizuru feeling set adrift. Meanwhile, having grown up in a strict environment with limited opportunities for dating, Chiako finds herself getting surprisingly close with her stepmother. Better able to sympathise with her and having warmed up to her as a person, they start spending more and more time together during military lessons and diplomatic missions.
Although Maizuru insists that her days of risky decisions are behind her, and promising herself she'll be a good stepmum, there's one major obstacle. That being, Chiako has apparently inherited her father's thing for mature woman, and once she's made her mind up, nothing will put her off winning Maizuru's heart. ♡
