I don't usually share my maps for worlbuilding projects, but this is the first time I've made a city map without tools like Inkarnate or other similar tools and I'm really happy with how it turned out. That and it's been a while since I talked about my pathfinder homebrew lol.

Torebli is a city in my homebrew pathfinder setting Sauvias, within the kingdom of Heralia. It is surrounded by rainforest and wetlands (across the lake depicted on the west of this map). While a fairly diverse city, it has the largest population of the semi-aquatic Axoli people and as such, has several residential districts partially submerged in the lake.

Every year during the spring time, Torebli is host to The Festival of Flames (working title lol) - a celebration honouring a hero from the ancient draconic wars in Sauvias's history (I'm keeping it vague because some of the players in the campaign I'm planning to run follow me on here and this festival is connected to the story).

If anyone tells you Worldbuilding is easy they're lying

I have a 7 page google document that's not even close to completion detailing all the general world building for my homebrew DnD campaign and only recently finished a map (that I started MUCH EARLIER THIS YEAR) that only contains major geography, locations and names of settlements, and that's about it.

World building is hard and it takes forever and that's okay! I'm STILL in the process of actually fleshing out these towns with important places, I've hardly even touched the NPCs. There's a lot that goes into a world. Don't beat yourself up over world building taking forever. Rome wasn't built in a day, so to speak.

You got this. Take your time. It's better to take longer to ensure all your love really gets put into your world than to churn it all out haphazardly in a short time.

This map (made with Inkarnate) would not be nearly as good as it is if I had just thrown it together in a day. I spent so much time planning this map, even if that planning was just daydreaming and imagining. That's still progress that was made that brought me to having this map to present to my players.

I know it feels like it's taking too damn long but trust me, it's fine. You aren't slow or lazy or anything. Worldbuilding is just hard, and the more you care about it, the more difficult it gets.

If it's difficult and taking forever, it means you care enough to go back and fix mistakes and improve where you can. You care enough to not look at something you can't deem perfect and go, "fuck it," because you aren't willing to put something you don't approve of in front of your players/readers/viewers. I believe in you. Build your world.
