Reasons to Love your Body
Question, “What type of body do you have?” Is it curvy? Straight? Hourglass? Round? Pear? I bet it’s beautiful in which ever way it may be. I have a very curvy, round body. Yes, I used to hate it. But I’m a little more confident about it. Wondering why you should love your body? Let me tell you.
• Love the skin you’re in, and others will do the same.
Being hard on yourself is, well, hard. Don’t do that to yourself. Think about it, most of the time people jump into the bandwagon, they will be hard on you too.
• The only opinion that matters is yours.
Ever ask questions to yourself? If you do, be honest with yourself. Calling yourself fat, stupid, ugly won’t change your body. The more you’re honest with yourself, the less nasty comments you’ll give yourself.
•You are perfect just the way you are.
You don’t have have a thigh gap? Not a tiny waist or thin legs? So what? However your body is made, you should love it. My thighs don’t fit into skinny jeans and i remember trying hard to work out but I love my thighs. You are perfect just the way you are.
•Somebody else wants to have your body.
Hard to believe? Might be. Take this as an example. I have a friend who sometimes works out with me. I get frustrated because she’s already skinny. But she tells me I wish I had your thighs. We all have something someone else wants, I promise you that.
•Imperficrion is perfection.
We all don’t have what we want. No one does. Your imperfections make you beautiful and perfect. Don’t let anyone else tell you otherwise.
•Your time is too precious.
Your time is not worth worrying about how you look. You could be doing other things more important. Wether it’s for school or work, finishing a book, or visiting a family member. Don’t waste your time on worrying about if you look perfect or not.
“My confidence is being myself and not giving a damn about what anyone says.”

This month, I had the opportunity to travel to Colorado to meet a collective of fantastic women from the @skirtsports tribe. We had a multiple day retreat and ended it with the 13er (half marathon). I'm a proud back of the pack runner. Being an athlete reminds me that I still have my mobility; this was something that I didn't think I would after being diagnosed with sciatica, a damaged L5,S1 herniated disc, spinal headaches and disc degeneration. Honey, I can do ultra marathons and climb crazy fences, roll in the dirt under barbed wire, all while people who are much faster pass me on the course. Initially I didn't think this was a great thing. I spent my first year scared of being DFL- dead fucking last - but after the drastic weight loss, finding out that my happiness wasn't tied to number or to others' opinions, it shifted my perspective and I'm thankful. Being in the back can be a make or break for some. Imagine getting to the end after 9 hours, 47 minutes and 22 seconds of your first ultra marathon and all of the medals, spectator and banners are down. Yes, you finished... But there's no party. But guess what? You finished, right? Sometimes I'm conflicted with that feeling because you didn't do it for everyone but sometimes you do crave to be part of that collective. I'm thankful for races like the NYC marathon where someone like @peter_ciaccia runs wirh you across the finish line or like my SS team who waited for me after 13.1 grueling miles after first experience with running a race in altitude to welcome me in with love, cheers and food. To each race director, spectator and event coordinator that change the narrative for us fantastically snail paced movers and shakers, we love and honor you. Thank you for reassuring us that we are doing a phenomenal thing.
