Hydra Tony is my fuckin jam and you wrote it so well, what about Steve finding out? Maybe Tony turns him into Hydra because then he can play with -both- brooklyn boys??

People forget that Tony Stark has super-genius intelligence. With the carefree, easy manner he projects, the “playboy” attitude, and the extraordinary wealth he possesses, it’s easy to forget that Tony is a lot more than his money and his suits, that he only has the money and suits because of what he’s capable of on his own.
It’s this ignorance that makes it so easy for Tony to capture Steve, for Tony to take the tech originally used to brainwash Bucky and make it that much better when used on Steve.
The Asset and the Mechanic
So I saw some nice WS!Steve fanart and me being the SteveTony hoe I am I decided to make an au.
It starts when Tony is four. Tony had just made his first computer board and everyone was excited. People from the news came to interview him and his daddy. They all kept saying his daddy should be proud.
His daddy wasn't proud. He was never proud, his daddy stayed the same, yelling at how Tony was worthless compared to Steve Rogers the first Captian America who died by sinking the Valkyrie into the artic or to Bucky Barnes who after being found by the army became the second Captain America. He later was willingly frozen by daddy's secret agency that Tony wasn't suppose to know about.
No, Tony did not get his daddy's pride or attention. But he did get someone else's attention.
Hydra saw the news. Howard Stark's child intrigued them. A child of that kind of genius was a rare thing. They wanted him. And with most things they want, they send the Winter Soilder.
Hydra had found Steve Rogers, wiping his memories over and over again, replacing his left arm with a weponized metal one. Turning the once great Captian America into their perfect weapon. Cyro freezing him until they needed him for a mission.
His newest mission. Kidnap Tony Stark.
It was easy, too easy Steve had thought to himself when he took the boy right from his bed. His parents weren't home to stop him, and the staff barely see the child.
That night was the first night that Hydra began turning a young boy into a sleeper agaent.
It was a repeated pattern, Hydra would send the Winter Soilder to take the child in the night and then return him in the morning when they finished their mind torture for the night.
Steve learned how quickly Tony latched onto him. Half a year in and Tony would take any free time by Steve's side. A year in, Tony would already be up for Steve, having a recording of his trigger word ready for when Jarvis put him to bed. Three years in and Tony doesnt need Steve anymore to find Hydra.
Hydra refreezes the Winter Solider until the next mission. Tony becomes one of the Winter Soldier's handlers, his mechanic on his weapons, and his arm. The Mechanic's approach was gentler to the Winter Soldier than his other handlers, but the Winter Soilder fights less when the Mechanic is near so Hydra lets it be.
Hydra never expected them to fall in love. It didn't happen instantly, more of over the years, two broken people found a way to begin fixing one another. Tony was always a different age everytime Steve saw him. Steve first noticed his feelings when Tony was seventeen and the young mechanic was fixing his arm, always so careful.
Then came the night Howard and Maria Stark were marked to die.
This time they had the Winter Soilder bring his Mechanic with him. Hydra told the Mechanic that he has to choose, let his parents die, or save them and the Winter Soilder will face a fate worse than death for failing the mision.
The Mechanic felt no sorrow at Howard's death, all thos years of abuse and the man got his karma. For Maria, Tony asked Steve to be merciful and kill her quickly. Steve granted that request and Tony kissed his mama goodbye.
The Mechanic did not cry. Tony Stark cried for his mama when told the news the next morning.
Years pass, Afghanistan puts an arch reactor in Tony's chest and Iron Man is created. The Mechanic puts a similar repulsor blast in the Winter Soilder's next upgrade. Tony gets palldium poisoning from the arch reactor, Hydra sends the Winter Soilder to make sure their best mechanic doesn't die, going as far as to plant an idea in one of the baby agent's heads.
The Avengers are formed, Bucky is unfrozen. Bucky starys to work for SHIELD. Hydra sends the Winter Soilder after Captian America.
SHIELD falls and the Winter Soilder is on the run. Bucky searches for his best friend for a month. He finds nothing. Eventually he decides he needs to tell Tony the truth about his parents, he deseves it.
Bucky returns to the tower, he does not expect to find Steve there.
But there he is, sitting on the sofa with Tony wrapped in his arms, his lips resting against the top of Tony's head.
"Sargent Barnes," Tony greets, and their is something different, an air of danger that surrounds both Steve and Tony.
"Remember those sleeper agents Hydra created? Well you're looking at one, though my loyalty has always been to Steve."
Tony goes to explain his history with hydra with a few words from Steve who otherwise remains silent. Tony goes onto explain how he has been working on something that could help Steve sort through the trauma.
"So how did Steve end up here?" Bucky asked when all was said.
Tony shrugged. "The Winter Soilder always went to his mechanic after each mission, this time was no different. "

(Actually being able to reach out and touch one another without their handlers getting mad since touching outside of maintenance is a big no-no so they're both touch-starved). 1/
(Sorry my prompt is long) So seeing as they're getting used to actually being human the team ends up surprised when they see Bucky and Tony suddenly cuddling - at first they hadn't realized it was a thing seeing as Bucky and Tony hid the fact they would actually hold hands or hug, their punishments were severe and being with decent human beings doesn't mean they aren't wary still. But, they begin to trust the team thus now they get to witness the fluff themselves. It makes Steve happy.
“Mechanic!”It echoed through the lab, even as the door slammed open. TheMechanic set down his tools and stood at attention, awaiting hisorders.
Threefield agents were carrying the Asset. The Mechanic suppressed anexpression of dismay. He had known that the Asset was going intobattle with the SHIELD team known as the Avengers. He had known thatthe Asset might be damaged. He hadn’t expected to see the Assetthisdamaged.The goggles with their high-tech precision targeting system weregone, as was the facemask with its specialized filtering. The arm wasdented and still sparking from some internal short. There was bloodon the Asset’s side and leg. A very lot of blood.
“Youwill repair the arm,” the handler told him. “A medic will comesoon to examine the rest of him. Stay out of the medic’s way.”
Andif repairing the arm required being in the medic’s way? TheMechanic already knew the answer to that: find a way. The Mechanicnodded his understanding. He was not required to speak.
Theagents laid the Asset in the maintenance chair. The Asset’s lipspressed tightly together, his skin covered in a sheen of sweat, andhis eyes were wide and wild and confused until he saw the Mechanic,and then he relaxed minutely.
TheMechanic picked up the Asset’s metal hand and squeezedreassuringly.
“Whatare you doing?” the handler snapped.
TheMechanic did not flinch, though providing comfort to the Asset -- ortaking comfort from the Asset -- meant punishment. Sometimes, theymade the Asset administer it, though probably that would not happenthis time, since the Asset was in such poor condition. The Asset’seyes remained locked on the Mechanic. “Testing grip strength,”the Mechanic answered evenly. “Inadequate grip strength isindicative of faults in the primary cluster servos, the secondarypower supply, a loss of pressure in hydraulic--”
“Shutup and just fix him,” the handler growled. “God damned Avengers.”
TheMechanic squeezed the Asset’s hand again, and bent to work. If theAsset was damaged enough, they might leave him in the Mechanic’slab overnight.
TheMechanic did not look at the calendar. The Asset had been gone fornine days. The Mechanic had gone longer without seeing the Assetbefore. Months, sometimes years. But that was when the Asset was instorage. This time, the Asset had been taken. Kidnapped by theAvengers.
TheMechanic did his work. He did not ask whether the Asset had beenbadly damaged in the fight. He did not ask whether there wereretrieval operations in place. These things were none of his concern.He was not worried.
Whenhe felt -- and then heard -- the explosion from the front of thefacility, he was not afraid. His guards left to go investigate thecommotion, and the Mechanic did not hope.
Whenthe Avengers burst into his laboratory, weapons raised, the Mechanicsnatched up the energy weapon he had been upgrading and pointed it attheir leader, at Captain America.
