Roots
I thought we were stable,
Like a tree,
Whose roots grow deep, underneath.
Whose roots grow and intertwine with each other.
We had so much invested in this,
Like the branches on a tree,
That grow in all different directions.
We had so many invested in this.
I thought we would stand our ground through all types of seasons.
I thought we were sound for so many reasons.
But now I know that no matter what I thought,
A tree can be chopped down,
Ripped apart,
For a whole new purpose.
