Honestlyyy... that's a good question. I had to put my thinking-cap on for this one :P
Why
Writing gave me an outlet during a time I needed it most. It was a distraction, and I'll forever be grateful for it!
Well that, and I just really love to create.
Indulging in my interests is a new concept for me, funnily enough. I've only recently allowed myself to draw and write about Undertale AUs.
I simply just want to share my stories and passions with others! I hope they can find enjoyment in them, too. I love making people happy; it makes me happy :]
How I got here (briefly)
I think the first fanfic I ever wrote was when I was 11 or 12. It... was a Harry Potter self-insert fanfic 😶😗
I didn't write anything fanfic-wise after that for quite a few years. I mainly wrote short stories for school assignments, which I genuinely loved.
Writing was my FAVORITE class. I still have stories I wrote in high school; they're really fun to look back on!
I've loved Undertale AUs for years, but always felt too self-conscious to draw or write anything. I didn't let myself enjoy my interests out of fear of judgement.
But that's stupid! And I'm done letting my insecurities dictate my happiness.
So, towards the end of 2024, I forced myself to write a Killer x Reader cafe fanfic called Tough Luck! I felt sooooo emberassed but SO free, my god. I think I wrote close to 60,000 words. I worked on it between classes in high school. I'd hide my Chromebook, typing away and feeling oh-so devious.
I was that one stereotypical smart-shy-silent kid in the back of the class, doodling in a sketchbook and writing fanfiction whilst I hid my work with one arm.
The whole shablam.
I never posted the cafe fic; long, TRAGIC story short, I'm a perfectionist. And I kept re-writing chapters to the point it felt like a chore, which SUCKS, because when I read it again a month or two ago, I loved it! The writing is VERY out-dated, but quite entertaining :')
It's currently sitting in my Google Docs. Maybe I'll post a snippet from it sometime, who knows.
However, Tough Luck did genuinely help me through a VERY rough patch in my life. It holds a special place in my heart; it gave me something else to focus my energy on.
Now, I'm re-writing Tough Luck! It means so much to me, and I'd love to give it a second chance.
This new version will be called "Caffinated!" I've got a few chapters written already, as well as a map of any main plot points and scenes. 😋
I'm currently in the process of changing my mindset. I want writing to be a fun hobby, not a chore. I need an outlet, not another stressor, y'know?
