Helloooo Tumblr! It’s me, Jess!
So I’ve decided to write a blog 🙃. It feels a little silly to be honest…I mean, to think that people everywhere want to read my thoughts. However, the reason I decided to do this whole blogging thing, is because I feel like my story has the ability to help thousands of people around the world…I’ll cut to the chase and tell you why I’m writing and then I’ll explain everything in more detail later. Basically, over the past few years I’ve had some pretty scary and very concerning health problems that interfered with my daily life and quality of life. Turns out after countless specialists and many doctors appointments (with no answers to the cause of my health problems) I discovered that it was a result of prolonged mould exposure; I was slowly poisoned by mould. For those of you who want to carry on reading….here we go… I will say first of all, that I am not a doctor or a nutritionist of any kind. My thoughts and findings in this blog are a result of personal experience, what I have been through, what has worked to help me, and what hasn’t. It all began when I signed a lease agreement for an apartment in June of 2012. Before moving into this apartment I was healthy and happy, with zero health concerns. Over the next 4 years I gradually began to experience various health issues…some that (at first) seemed like fairly common issues and some very, very strange ones.
To give you a briefing, here are some of my main symptoms in approximate order of when I experienced them after moving in as well as what the doctors tried in effort to rid me of my symptoms. None of their solutions worked.
Headaches that turned into debilitating migraines…every single day
Sore and swollen feeling tongue
Dr. tried Antiseptic Oral Rinse
Disgusting white slime that came out in strands from the inside of my cheeks and gums
Excessive chronic fatigue
Stabbing and burning pain between my shoulder blades
Inflamed glands in my neck
Throat felt tight and narrowed
Feeling of a lump or obstruction in my throat
Dr. tried Trazadone for anxiety. I am not anxious, I was UNWELL and TOXIC from the mould. I am all for those who struggle with anxiety to be assisted with these medications. But not listening and understanding someones illness does not warrant anti-depressants. I can not even say enough on this topic.
Dysphagia (difficulty swallowing)
Hoarse and very painful voice (could barely speak)
Digestive problems including pressure in my throat, excessive gas and bloating
Inflammation and pain in my entire body (especially my chest, neck and back). I was diagnosed with costochondritis (inflammation of the tissue that connects your ribs to your sternum)…more on this later
Numbness and burning in my face and head, feet and hands
Neurologist found I was extremely B12 deficient…more on this later
Vertigo and blurred vision
Neurologist found I was extremely B12 deficient…more on this later
In a later post I will get into the research I have found regarding how mould causes these symptoms, and the effect mould has on your entire body and wellbeing.
I moved out of my apartment 2 months ago and have been doing extensive research to help myself recover. I am pairing the knowledge I find myself with the knowledge of an excellent naturopath to facilitate my recovery.
I’d love to have you follow along, in the hopes that I can help even one other person. The road to discovering what was making me sick was hell, and it was long and confusing. There were times when my symptoms were so bad that I honestly thought the doctors were missing something and that I might die. I’ll be posting lots of info on mould illness and what it is, as well as how I’m helping myself to get better…what I found works and what doesn’t. If you suspect there are mould, spores, and mycotoxins in your home, PLEASE do not fluff it off. You do not have to see mould to have the toxins present.
