About three months ago, I started writing a fic with one single goal: to include every underrated trope and forgotten headcanon this fandom always leaves behind.
Don’t get me wrong — I love some of the big, overused Marauders tropes (and a few of them do show up), but this story is a love letter to the things we don’t talk about enough. So here are a few of my favorite differences:
◾ Mary Macdonald as a central character — and her sibling-style relationship with Sirius, which I swear is criminally underrated.
◾ A complex Lily Evans, who makes mistakes, has flaws, and is so much more than a perfect redhead in love with James Potter, which by the way she's not, because my Fic has Marylily relevance.
◾ Peter being younger than the rest, creating a little-brother dynamic that adds so much angst and softness at the same time.
◾ Lily & Petunia’s relationship — because I adore the Black brothers, but the Evans sisters deserve equal levels of emotional chaos.
◾ Sirius dealing with guilt over Andromeda leaving the family, while realizing he did exactly the same to Regulus.
◾ Rodolphus Lestrange as an actual character, not just Bellatrix’s husband. He’s got depth, gray morality, and ancient Black family trauma™.
◾ Emmeline Vance matters. That’s it. That’s the point.
◾ A dystopian/post-apocalyptic setting with realistic stakes — yes, there’s "magic", but there’s also scarcity, exhaustion, war, and hard choices.
◾ Drama, secrets, and canon references that took me hours to weave in without breaking timelines.
◾ James Potter has an eyebrow piercing. Is it plot relevant? No. Is it hot? Absolutely.
◾ You also get to imagine all of them in post-apocalyptic outfits and aesthetic. I will draw them one day, just give me time.
