RWBY: Ren’s Rap

The dance was in full swing and everyone was having a good time, even the teachers. Lie Ren, sitting with Nora, pondered for a moment. The dance he did with his team was amazing, but he had to top that. Finally, it clicked! Since he was a kid, he had a huge love for rap music. That was more than enough to one up that dance!

Nora: You okay there, Ren?

Ren: *smirks* I’m great Nora.

Nora: ...why do you have that look? I don’t like it.

Ren: *leaves his seat*

Nora: *frantic* Guys, Ren’s up to something!

Pyrrha: What do you mean, Nora?

Nora: He smirked! He never smirks unless he’s planning something devious!!!

Jaune: *eyes wide* ...oh no.

Pyrrha: *sighs* Don’t you think you two are overreacting?

Nora: Pyrrha, sweetie, I’ve known Ren since forever. Believe me, this is NOT going to go well.

Jaune: *nods frantically*

Pyrrha: ...okay?

Suddenly, Velvet announced on stage that Ren would be performing, earning very confused looks from everyone on the dance floor.

Velvet: Good luck Ren! *beams*

Ren grabbed hold of the microphone and snapped his fingers. Music started playing and the crowd murmured.

Ren: Look, if you had one shot or one opportunity to seize everything you ever wanted in one moment, would you capture it? Or just let it slip?

Sun: Lose Yourself?

Neptune: There’s no way!

Blake: T-This can’t be real, right?

Sage: He’s going to choke.

Ruby: *covers her face* I can’t watch!

Scarlet: Oh no, no, no.

Yang: I can’t tell if this is gonna be good or trainwreck.

Weiss: Of all songs, why a rap song? That doesn’t suit him at all.

Nora: *smiles devilishly* That’s my man.

Jaune: Okay, now I can relax.

Pyrrha: Huh? What happened to you two freaking out?!

Nora: If I knew he was gonna rap, I wouldn’t have worried.

Jaune: Trust me, you’ll be blown away.

Ren: His palms are sweaty, knees weak, arms are heavy there's vomit on his sweater already, mom's spaghetti. He's nervous, but on the surface he looks calm and ready to drop bombs, but he keeps on forgettin' what he wrote down, the whole crowd goes so loud. He opens his mouth, but the words won't come out. He's chokin', how, everybody's jokin' now. The clocks run out, times up, over, blaow!

Snap back to reality, oh there goes gravity! Oh, there goes Rabbit, he choked! He's so mad, but he won't give up that easy? No! He won't have it, he knows his whole back's to these ropes! It don't matter, he's dope, he knows that, but he's broke! He's so stagnant, he knows, when he goes back to this mobile home, that's when it's back to the lab again, yo, this whole rhapsody!Better go capture this moment and hope it don't pass him!

Yang: *records on scroll* A moment for history.

Neptune: ....

Weiss: Sweet Brothers!

Sage: Guess I was wrong.

Scarlet: *snaps his fingers to the beat*

Jaune: So Pyrrha, what do you think?

Pyrrha: ...I’ve never seen anything more beautiful in my life.

Nora: *smiles* Now the whole school knows never to underestimate Ren.

Nobody really seems to talk much about Oscar being his own person these days. Apart from Rosegarden or other shippers who are generally fans of farmboi-kun, I feel like there will be some Ozpin stans who will Oz as an excuse to piss all over any individuality that Oscar has. What case would you guys make for Oscar being his own person rather than just Ozpin's latest ?

it’s a stance i’ve firmly taken that oscar is his own person; jinn made it distinctly clear throughout the flashback in 6x03 that all of oz’s entities were their own individual persons, they had their own lives & learned to work with ozma. however this falls apart when in every instance after that episode, oscar is dehumanized & treated as ozpin without any resistance from really . . . anyone, including ruby later on. how are we supposed to see that oscar is a real person separate from ozpin when a. the show wont let us see any of his individualism with all of his development being off screen & b. won’t refute the characters we’re supposed to root for basically dehumanizing him & equating him to oz.

of course oscar is his own person, he had a life before ozpin & obviously has his own personality, interests, etc but even with ozpin missing this volume; they won’t show that & so the argument is hard to make, even with how much i love oscar & what he could be.

owl : i really like both! ironwinter / silver shamrock / taire iron are still my faves over ironwillow, but ironwitch is #1 babey it’s just sooooooo good. they’re married, just look at their chemistry in canon like woof.

luke : I’m very much a mlm Ironwood stannie but Ironwitch and Ironwillow are still really good ships. I’d love if Ironwood and Willow were married and he was the Schneeblings father instead of KFC man. I gotta stay captain of my SS ship, though.

So I have something to admit...

Just gonna eat some crow (not that Qrow!) and confess something about Lancaster, much as I find it to be a little repetitive (IMHO), there is one thing I like about it...

Their shared interests.

While I prefer ships where opposites attract, I have to admit that I can find how Ruby/Jaune's hobbies and such outside of Hunting really endearing. Most notably things like video games, comic books, whatever Remnant's equivalent of anime is (but I'm calling it anime anyway)..

I'm a dork. And I like dorky characters. So I'm starting to be a wee bit more chill with Lancaster setups such as the ones I mentioned above.

Plus, this is a minor thing...I kinda like the idea of a gamer couple. I think it'd make for some more interesting prompts for the ship. Hell, I'd read it.

And I don't want your viewers to think I'm crapping on your OTP here, Saiyan. No-no-no-no-no, I don't hate Lancaster. But I thought in between my latest shit-load of housework and business calls that I'd run this by you while my Internet is still functioning.
