RWBY Christmas Tales Anthology
Sage was barely able to move as a horde of desperate shoppers were squashing him. If he ever saw Jaune again, he'd kill him. Who leaves a friend to fend for himself 4 days before Christmas?
Sage: Oh for the love of-
Sage shuffled through his pocket, struggling ti find his scrollphone as he felt more constricted. Finally, he managed to feel the cold metal against his fingertips. He'd found it.
Sage: Come on, come on. *pulls scrollphone and out calls Jaune* Dude, what happened?! Where are you?!
Jaune: Hey there! Oh you're not gonna believe this, I-
Sage: Jaune, I swear to god!
Jaune: Alright, alright, sheesh. I'm on the third floor, you can meet me there.
Sage: That's if I'll survive- ow! Watch it, that's my foot! *hangs up* Man, I REALLY wish I had Pilgrim with me!
Sage swam through the crowds like a roaring sea, desperate to reach the escalators. He stretched his arm out as far as he could and clutched onto the railing. Gritting his teeth, himself towards the escalator, barely escaping with his shirt intact. Placing one foot onto the step, Sage hopped on and gasped for air. He had made it. He turned around to take a look at the frenzy behind him and shuddered. In all his years fighting the Grimm, Mercury and Salem's horde, nothing was scarier than Christmas shopping.
Meanwhile, Jaune was beaming ear to ear at the train set display at the centre of the Christmas tree. There was a red steam engine, puffing small clouds of smoke and carriages painted red, green and white trailing behind it. The tracks were circled outside of a full scale Christmas Village. There were small shops, a town square, an ice rink, cafes and restaurants and a theatre. Jaune's eyes were sparkling with joy. However, his expression turned to fear when he heard heavy breathing behind him. A chill went down his spine.
Jaune: *slowly* Hehe... hi Sage.
Sage: Do... you have... any idea... what the hell I've been through?!
Jaune: Okay buddy, I know you're mad, but.... come on, look at this train set! How is it not the cutest thing you've ever seen?
Sage: ..... *clenches fists* You left me for a train set?!
Jaune: Well yeah, I was thinking we could buy it for Ruby and Yang.
Sage calmed down and flicked Jaune on his forehead.
Sage: *chuckles* You could've told me that earlier, knucklehead.
Jaune: *rubs forehead* Okay, okay, I deserved that. Trouble is, how are we gonna haul all of this back to the house? Even with your strength, you can't carry everything.
Sage: Oh I'll have that covered. You got a basket?
Jaune: Sure thing! *holds basket*
Sage: Well then, load it up!
One by one, Jaune placed a few of the boxes into the basket as Sage called the rest of his team.
Sage: Hey guys, what's up? You all free tonight? *smiles* Awesome! Jaune and I got a lot of gifts that need delivering to Yang and Ruby's house, so could you lend us a hand? *frowns* What do you mean 'what's in it for you?' How about the fact that you're helping a fellow teammate in a time of need? *sighs* Fine, I'll take you guys to Christma Parade this Saturday. *groans* Yes, I'll pay for the drinks. Thank you. *hangs up* My god.
Jaune: Uhhhh, Sage? We might have a problem?
Sage: Hm? What are you talking about? You've filled the basket quite well.
Jaune: Look closer. What don't you see?
Sage looked at the boxes on the display and back at the fully set Village. He did this a couple of time before his eyes widened.
Sage: *shakes Jaune* We're missing the steam engine!!!!!
Sage: Ah crap, what are we gonna do?! We can't show up with an incomplete set! We'll look like idiots!
Jaune: W-Well we're just gonna have to improvise. I'll think of something!
Sage: You'd better think fast, *glances over* because we're gonna get eaten alive.
Jaune looked over and saw that the horde had expanded three times more and they were starting to head upstairs. It was now or never. Jaune took a breath and closed his eyes.
Ruby and Yang had prepared the hot chocolates and cookies and started to make their way into the living room.
Yang: Man, Sage and Jaune have been in there for quite a while. You think they're okay?
Ruby: I hope so. But if they aren't, nothing a little sweet treats can't fix. *smiles*
The two girls opened the door and saw their boyfriends covered in bruises.
Yang: My god, what the hell happened to you two???
Sage: *winces* Eh, don't worry about us. We've had worse.
Jaune: Yeah, we'll be fine. Besides, the real surprise is right here!
Jaune and Sage stepped aside and showed Ruby and Yang their handiwork. Surrounding the bottom of the tree was the complete Christmas Village from the Buried Moon Mall. Ruby gasped in awe and whizzed around the room in excitement.
Ruby: THIS IS SO COOL!!!!! LOOK HOW TINY EVERYONE IS!!!!! *gasp* AND THE TRAIN, SO CUTE!!!!
Yang: *chuckles* You did all this for us?
Sage: *nods head* Sure did and it was worth every penny. *grabs Yang's waist* Sorry that we had to settle for a cheap wooden train, though. The steam one was much cooler.
Yang: *drapes arms around his neck* No need to worry, sweetheart. I love it. *kisses his lips* And I love you.
Sage gleefully returned the kiss and pulled Yang closer to him. Ruby, meanwhile, pounced on Jaune and peppered kisses all over his face.
Ruby: IloveyouIloveyouIloveyouIloveyou!!!
Jaune: *laughs* I love you too, Ruby!
Through all the setbacks, and an angry mob, Jaune and Sage could safely say that this would be their best Christmas yet.
