a family sim's day is never done 🕰️
Ashes to ashes...
Dust to dust...
instagram posts as premades again
this was supposed to be scheduled for April but I've been collecting and updating this post for the past month and I fear that if I leave it for April it'll probably be way too long

TS2 Hot Take: I hate how John Burb gets such a bad rap, especially in the youtube/streaming lp communities, just because everyone uses that completely fan made secondary aspiration calculator which assigns him as secondary romance, and then they act like its a cannon aspect of his core character. That he's somehow Pleasantview's most disgusting cheater (all while going "yes Don slaaaaay").
Like, he's clearly set up by maxis to be the loving house husband to his girlboss wife Jennifer. Why do you all hate malewives?

Behold, I am back on my bullshit, this time with family-specific headcanons, starting with the Pleasants
I've already mentioned that Daniel is famous in the world of the Sims; you don't just become a professional athlete without getting some form of recognition from the group of people who follow your sport. But he's not like David Beckham, famous, more of a Tony Hawk famous. Like, people know him but might not necessarily recognise him if he walked past them in the street, so he's not getting invited to significant events.
Mary-Sue is awful in politics. What do you mean you've been an intern for over a decade? Girl, what are you doing so disastrously wrong to have never got a promotion? Pull it together or find a new job. This is embarrassing. She'd thrive as a lawyer or in business because of her political knowledge and ability to find loopholes, but actively declines any alternative job offers.
Mary-Sue and Daniel prefer Angela over Lilith because Angela fits the perfect aesthetic they're trying to achieve, while Lilith highlights their flaws as parents.
With Angela and Lilith being twins, I think Angela was the firstborn. Given my experience with identical twins in my family, she's the "wanted" one, the only one everyone wants to know. At the same time, Lilith lives in her shadow, always in the corner of every room, always following Angela. It's not deliberate imbalance of attention between them, but Lilith feels the impact massively.
I'm very much of the mindset that Herb and Coral Oldie do not like their son-in-law, but they love Jennifer Burb and talk to her a lot at family functions. Jennifer is like the best bits of Daniel and Mary-Sue combined. She's charismatic like Daniel and goal-driven like Mary-Sue, and even has a successful career to back it up.
Despite their core differences, John Burb and Daniel Pleasant get along well. They're best friends, meeting for BBQs and beers regularly. John rants to Daniel about the state of the police force, and Daniel comes to John to talk about insecurities. John has told Daniel several times he should try couples counselling, but Daniel doesn't listen.
I have more, but I don't want the list to turn into a full-on ramble. I also don't want to unintentionally spoil anything I'm working on at the moment.
As always, let me know what you think!
first day in the burb household and jen is already up the proverbial, which comes as very little surprise, despite john's very bad feigned attempt at shock -- he is the most family sim to ever family sim
