Indian Street Food Meets Berkeley Prices - Viks Chaat Corner, Berkeley CA
Viks is as close to authentic Indian street food as one can get in the Bay Area. Their menu has dozens of options, both vegetarian and non-vegetarian. All regions of India are represented at Viks - North, South, East and West Indian cuisine is on the menu. Everything from Koliwada Fish to Chola Bhatura is available. And it’s all delicious!
The food is prepared fresh with fresh ingredients, and more than fills you up. It’s a bit pricey considering that the same dishes on the streets in India would cost a tenth of the price, but you get what you pay for. Viks is excellent. Service is quick and everyone is friendly.
The only downside is that the restaurant fils up quickly, especially on weekends. Also, their hours are a bit strange. It’s good for lunch or an early dinner, but closes too early for normal dinner time. Come any time before noon and you’ll be fine. And come with an empty stomach. You’ll leave absolutely stuffed!
