This is fucking horrific. Imagine hating anybody and everybody who isn't a trans woman, who isn't trans in the very specific way you are. Imagine believing literal hate speech like this is not only okay but good and that anybody who objects is just not "oppressed enough" to understand. The oppression hierarchies, anti-masculinity, transandrophobia, etc. on this website is out of control. Republicans who whine about the "far left" are full of shit. Simultaneously, this website has taught me that there is such thing as too "left," and that's when you go far enough left that you turn back around and find yourself on the right. When you have the same beliefs as radical feminists while complaining about needing to block said radical feminists, you need to sit down and take a hard look at yourself. If your problem with bigotry and discrimination isn't the bigotry and discrimination but instead who the target is, you've admitted to yourself that you don't actually care about oppression and equality. You solely care about convincing people to allow you to harm others without consequences. This bigot is lucky that I despise callout posts enough to not show their url. Fuck people like this.

If you for any reason find yourself wanting to or justifying people who villify, oust, disparage, or generalize other trans people as some sort of inherent bad or dangerous.

You can show yourself the door.

We are all oppressed in a violently cisgendered and perisex normative society. None of us get any special privilege with our oppressors for transitioning because it is inherently flawed and disgusting to them. And by god we are not oppressing each other in our transitions, but a disturbing amount of people seem to think otherwise.

You gain Nothing from feeding each other to the wolves, this community doesn't benefit from cannibalizing each other to appeal to people who will Never see us for who we Are.

Quit doing onto others what has hurt you. Quit perpetuating the abusive actions our oppressors do onto us to your transgender siblings.

(And if you assume this post is specific to any one side of the community, you are the problem, thanks.)

stop calling ND people’s ableism against physdis folks “lateral ableism.” it’s not lateral.

the vast majority of physdis folks are ND. while ND people can absolutely be disabled, ND disability works and is experienced differently, and isn’t just “physdis but mental”

ND people’s ableism against crips isn’t “lateral.” it’s ableism with an excuse.

also yes, a disabled person can be ableist towards people with the same disability as them.

people don’t grow up in a bubble. many of us internalise a lot of messages we’re sent growing up, and sometimes that leads to lashing out at others in our communities (either accidentally or on purpose)

if someone calls you out for ableism, make sure you’re taking that seriously. you may have been ableist or you may not have — but being disabled doesn’t inherently protect you from being ableist

If I have to be real for you, having ADHD in tandemn with my other mental disorders has been one of the most disabling experiences for me, and I'm tired of it being treated like my experiences is lesser than having a physical disability.

And I do have a physical disability, but it affects me very little compared to my ADHD and my very disabling trauma.

ADHD affects me physically, it always has, so how come it's not basically a chronic illness? How come when I go catatonic due to stress, it's not the same?

People with mental disabilities are not as perfectly abled as you're lead to believe. And ADHD is lifelong, something I'm born with, I will always be disabled because of my ADHD.

Just because I can walk doesn't mean I have the spoons to take care of myself. Hygeine is hard. It's fucking humiliating and sometimes it feels like I'm deteriorating.

I'm just as disabled as anyone else, and that deserves to be said. Lateral oppression is super shitty, a lot of neurodivergent people are just as disabled as physically disabled people. That deserves to be said.

For anyone who’s in a therapy group and whose mental problems come more from physical health, drug addiction, homelessness, time in the prison system, rather than ADHD or mental illness: I’m asking you a favor. No, I’m actually going to insist on it. Don’t dismiss ADHDers’ pain. 

Don’t say “at least it’s ADHD not what we have to deal with.” I know what you mean. But it’s still fucking hurtful.

Especially for people like me who struggled for years to see ourselves as even remotely having a Real Problem (tm) and Deserving (tm) to talk about it.

I felt like a hyperprivileged brat for even bringing up the hard time I’ve been having with my ADHD for the last few months.

I don’t think I’ll ever bring it up in that setting again. Because even though I know the person who brought it up didn’t mean it to sound like it did, and doesn’t think I don’t have “real problems,” that’s still how it came across. And my emotions aren’t able to just shrug it off. 

One step forward, fifty steps back, I guess.

Do you want the bad or the good first?

The bad: It’s hard to feel excited about Indigenous Peoples Day when so many people in my immediate indigenous community treat each other like shit. Until we’re ready to admit that we are capable of hurting each other as much as the legacy of colonization has, cultural continuity almost seems futile to me. Without respect for each other,our songs,language,our ways...they are weightless.

And the same people I went to conferences with learned about lateral oppression and joke around about said term, then later actually laterally oppress each other by gate keeping, talking shit, etc..I see it alot too in well-known movements, runs, etc. Honestly, I feel fake for getting stoked for something like IPD cause I know how it really usually is around here.

I know it’s the work of latent colonialism and trauma at work, but damn.

The good: Yesterday I heard a native Dad say that raising his daughter has helped him to learn and speak his language more fluently, that his child is his motivation. And I would be remiss if I didn’t mention that at last week’s ATALM conference, there was beautiful dialogue among indigenous folks about the power of using our own voices in film and story telling to lift each other up. A relative started crying at the end of Reel Injun saying how she was ashamed to show pride in her ancestry, until that day. They were embraced and shown love. Another relative shared how our continuity on turtle island has inspired indigenous filipino people. On days like yesterday when I felt pretty hopeless, I’ll try to remember the days when Ive shared laughs with youth while making word play with our language, or weaving basket medallions as gifts and deciding which fits best with each person’s being.

I know this happened waaay back in 2017 but I didnt have the chance to rant about this until now. In August 2017 a black woman rapper named Omeretta was called out by a native woman for wearing an offensive halloween costume that bastardize native regalia. Omeretta and her asskissing fans harassed the native woman for this, many claiming that wearing offensive costumes is ok because the original native americans were supposedly black and emigrated from pangaea and other such horsepuckey. Others brought up native american slave owners and demanded money and reparation from native communities. A huge number of white knights Said that it was antiblack of the native woman to assume that Omeretta isnt native and compared the halloween costume to real afro-native people at powwows wearing real regalia. False equivalence. Some even enforced anti-native racism by saying that Omeretta probably is more native than the woman calling her out, praising her as a "native American goddess" as if genes are that important when it comes to tribal citizenship. No Omeretta, being black does not absolve you of criticism, you can be a bigot as much as any white person and no amount of slave owners justify what you are doing.
