I think the "lawful" alignment is kind of slept on because everyone loves their morally grey neutral and chaotics but you know where we get that delicious nuance and cognitive dissonance. The wonderfully messy lawful evil and neutral. Lets see a lawful neutral character who "just follows the rules" and doesn't seem to have a personal morality-meter. Lets see them follow the rules. And lets see what they do when the rules change.

To expand, are they just okay with their new boundaries? Do they question them? Are they lawful, but skirt the lines of what is and isn't allowed? Do they change their alignment? Is there a horrifying realization that "I can't do that it's illegal!" "Not anymore."

(DISCLAIMER: Yes this is how "politically neutral" people function irl and it is horrifying to witness and be on the receiving end of laws pushing human rights further and further away THIS IS IN THE CONCEPT OF THE SAFELY FICTIONAL IN WRITING INTERESTING CHARACTERS)
