‘Come On George Weasley’ - Part 1
George Weasley x Ravenclaw!Reader
Plot: George is trying to ask Y/N to the upcoming Yule Ball everyone’s been talking about. Just fluff and George being adorably desperate.
A/N: It’s my first ever fic so I’m sorry if it’s a bit dry I know I suck at fluff being a very unfluffly person lol. I also added an o/c and will add more in the upcoming parts. I may also write prequels to it cause ughhh I thought so much about the backstory of the character. Anyways hope you enjoy and make sure to write if you wanna be added on the taglist! Flashbacks and inner thoughts in italics btw!
Y/N was sat near the Black Lake, leaning her back against a giant plane tree, reading a muggle book while her friend Finn was diving into the Black Lake but of course not going too far, at the instance of Y/N. Finn had a special interest in mere creatures which led him to diving into the Black Lake in hopes of seeing those ‘wonderful but misunderstood’ creatures. Y/N wouldn’t mind accompanying her friend though, but since she was not a big fan of swimming, she preferred sitting by the shore enjoying the beautiful outdoors of Hogwarts whilst reading a book, mostly sci-fi or crime, and taking on the task of watching out Finn’s belongings, of course.
When she finished her chapter, she looked up from the book to check if Finn was okay.
“You ok there?” she shouted, trying to spot Finn’s short blonde hair in the water. A hand gesturing thumbs up popped up from the water and Y/N heaved a sigh of relief. Then she heard the sound of approaching footsteps. She looked back to see who was coming and saw two tall ginger figures talking to each other. Fred and George. The Weasley Twins. The prankserts. The troublemakers. But Y/N knew these commonly used words were not all the twins were about. She knew this in her heart because they were one of her closest friends. The twins had never failed to cheer her up, even in her darkest times: when her mother went abroad for some healer work and all the responsibility was on her, when she was about to go crazy because of her sister’s obsessive-compulsive disorder, when her ex-boyfriend Eddie dumped her for another girl, when she was too worried about the OWLs... They also shared the same passion for inventing new stuff, been invented some products together: like Memory Bubblegums that help you remember information before exams or Soothing Chocolates that help you get rid of stress. She was able to help them thanks to her wicked, as the twins say, skills in potions.
People usually say it’s Fred that catches the attention first. But somehow, this wasn’t the situation for Y/N. It was George who caught her attention every time. George Weasley. The Younger Twin. The gentler and more empathetic one. And the better looking twin, to be honest.
Again, this time George hadn’t failed to catch Y/N’s attention first. She eyed George from head the foot: His longer than normal ginger hair that matches the colour of the trees at that time of the year perfectly, those chocolate brown eyes (damn Y/N loved chocolate), the autumn wind moving his golden/red scarf slightly, his laugh (bloody hell, THAT LAUGH, what wouldn’t she give to make him laugh like that), his long hands moving in the air while discussing something with his twin rigorously, his long legs that slowly carry his body, his boots that crashed the fallen sere leaves. George finally felt Y/N’s gaze on him and met his eyes with hers. Y/N gave him a soft sweet smile and waved. George gave her a wide grin as a reply and gestured Fred to go join Harry and Neville who were hanging by the Lake too. He came and sit next to Y/N.
“Hi!” Y/N said with the same smile on her face.
“Hi!” replied George, leaning his back against the tree like Y/N and putting an arm through Y/N’s shoulders. “Are you alone?”
“Temporarily.” Y/N replied, pointing at Finn’s belongings. George grinned at her unusual answer. As Y/N was looking at the lake, he took the opportunity to scan her beautiful features again: Her y/h/l y/h/c hair, her capturing y/e/c eyes, her smooth y/s/c skin, her bronze/blue scarf lazily wrapped around her neck, her long black coat and the lifted collars of the coat, as always. She had said that she looked like a famous detective from her favourite muggle book series like that.
“So, what were you two discussing there?” asked Y/N, breaking the silence and turned her head to face George. Oh no. George didn’t see that coming.
“Come on mate! You gotta ask her!” snapped Fred, tired of his twin won’t shutting up about Y/N. George sighed and looked at Fred “What if she says no? What if she isn’t feeling the same way? What if she gets mad at me and never talks to me again? She’s been denying McLaggen for ages, what if she treats me the same way?” he said in one breath.
“Georgie, that’s so much what ifs in one breath! And we all know McLggen is too dumb for her. She’s a bloody Ravenclaw!”
“Yeah, that’s kinda the problem. She’s the best of class, she has wicked talents, she’s wise and mature and me... I’m just a bloody immature prankster!”
“HEEEY?! I’M SERIOUSLY OFFENDED!” Fred raised his voice, frowning and crossing his arms. George laughed at his twin’s hilarious reaction and soon they were both laughing.
“I mean, I might be like this in her eyes” said George when they stopped laughing.
“Well then she wouldn’t help us with our products, wouldn’t she?” pointed Fred.
“IF IT’S THAT EASY YOU GO ASK ANGELINA THEN!”
“Well, alright then if I ask Angelina you ask her. Deal?” Fred said offering his hand
“Deal.” said George confidently shaking the hand Fred had offered.
“And if you chicken out, you owe me 5 galleons”
“Uhhhmmm... We... We were talking about how Fred couldn’t ask Angelina to the Yule Ball. You know he fancies her for quite a long time” George lied hoping Y/N wouldn't notice the heat starting to creep up his cheeks.
Y/N raised an eyebrow and said “You were teasing him, weren’t you?” Though she knew something was off.
“I was doing my brother-ing duty you know” George grinned with a relief looking down at you.
Y/N let out a small giggle and looked up at him. Her cheeks started to heat up seeing how close their faces were.
George’s gaze went through Y/N’s lips. If only he could only meet those with his... If only...
He searched for the right words but for Merlin’s sake nothing was coming out of his mouth.
‘Come on George Weasley!’
“Sooo do you have a date for the Yule Ball?” Ok. At least he started out from somewhere.
“You know McLaggen’s been bothering me. Last time I smacked his head with that heavy charms book but still he doesn’t seem to get what ‘NO’ means so I’m planning to buy him a book about saying no in 100 languages as a gift in our next trip to Hogsmeade!” Y/N said sarcasm filling her voice and grinning widely. George let out a quite laughter throwing his head back slightly and removing little pieces of hair from his forehead with his pinkie.
“Not worth your money for that idiot, love”
“Yeah you’re right, I’d rather save them for my Yule Ball dress”
Her Yule Ball dress. George stopped for a second to imagine her in a beautiful dress. A grin slowly appeared on his face. The dreamy look in his eyes explained it all. He was gonna ask her to the ball, no matter what. He looked back at Y/N. Merlin, she made his heart skip a beat.
‘Come on George Weasley!’
“What about him?” he said pointing at the lake.
‘Wait, why did I even ask this question?’
He slapped his forehead mentally.
“You mean, Finn?” asked Y/N confused, pointing at the boy who was still underwater. George gave her a small nod.
“You can’t be serious?! I mean we’re like brother and sister. We grew up together and our fathers are, I mean were, like brothers.” She stopped and thought about it for a second. “That would be weird. So weird.”
George blushed with embarrassment. “You know, you two are really close” he said nearly whispering.
Y/N raised an eyebrow “Would you date Ginny?” she said with a mischievous grin, proud of explaining the point so well.
“Ok I get it” admitted George sounding defeated.
‘Is it just me or did Gorge Weasley just get jealous?’ thought Y/N. Merlin, she wanted to know what he was thinking so badly, but no, a promise is a promise. She couldn’t use Legilimency on George at this situation.
Suddenly a freezing wind blew causing both of them to shiver. Y/N leant on George’s arm and snuggled into it. George’s eyes widened because of this sudden attention he had received but he was totally enjoying it.
“Well if I’m getting that extra attention I wouldn’t mind staying in the middle of a blizzard” Y/N looked up and smiled at him. George ran his fingers through Y/N’s hair and then carefully put them behind her ear to see her face better. It was the perfect time to ask her.
‘Come on George Weasley!’
No, the words were stuck in his throat and they wouldn’t come any further. They sat like this for couple of seconds in complete silence before a blonde head popped up from the lake.
“Y/N! You won’t believe what I just saw!” Finn shouted finally getting off the water. His excited face turned to surprised when he saw George and Y/N curled up together. He looked at Y/N with a mischievous grin wiggling his eyebrows. Y/N shot him a glance of ‘Oh shut up’ whilst getting up to get a blanket and a warming potion for her friend.
“So did Mr. Gryffindor finally asked you to the ball?” whispered Finn with the same mischievous grin on his face while Y/N was handing him the blanket.
“Not yet but I guess we’re making progress” she said and gave the warming potion to Finn. Finn finished it in one shot “Yeah I saw” he said wiping his mouth with his sleeve.
