Black fathers ❤️😍
I will never understand why there aren’t more “supportive Black dad” characters. I do understand that there are a variety of different types of dads out there. Not all Black dads are perfect or good, but the thing is that most of the Black dads I’ve known/met are very loving and affectionate towards their children.
Maybe it’s because my dad is Black and I grew up in Philly (which has a primarily Black population), but I always remember my dad taking me to the park each weekend, and I would see a lot of other Black dads doing the same with their kids.
I remember how, even when some of them looked really tired, they would light up when their little child came over to them excitedly to show them or tell them about something or other. I remember the attitude of “I would die for this child.” Even now, I see some guys who talk very proudly of their children and what great jobs they are doing.
Maybe I just want to see dads who look and act like my dad, and other father figures I had growing up who just so happened to be Black. Those guys who are the exact opposites of the “absent Black dad” stereotype. Who are the embodiment of “Dear Theodosia”. Who like to bond with their children and take them places.
I am a sucker for characters with parent issues, but please give me some fluffy stuff too. More importantly, please give me more examples of supportive and loving Black dads in the media. Not even just ‘strict but loving’ or ‘overprotective but loving’, but also ones who are supportive of their kids’ interests, are a normal amount of protective, and will welcome in their daughter’s new boyfriend.
Please, I am begging you. I know that not all people are lucky in the dad department, but give us representation for Black dads who are loving and supportive and somewhat laid back but still careful when necessary.
The characters who look like my dad don’t fully act like my dad, and the characters who act like my dad don’t often look like my dad. But dads like mine exist, and there are a lot more of them than shown in the media.
I just want to see a character who is like my dad. A loving, supportive, Black dad.
Daddy!Chris Evans
Daddy!Chris Evans will include:
Since he cries at everything, he cried when you announced on being pregnant
You announced it a few days after Chris was to everyone
Everyone blew up on social media
His Avengers cast all being proud finally
The ways he would hold you these times
Hands on stomach or waist (from behind)
Usually when sleeping, his head is just by your chest as his arm drapes over your stomach.
He’d panic every time you felt a kick
He always talked about you in interviews, including with Scarlet
“How’s Y/N?”
“She’s good. Hanging there.”
“Have you found out the gender?”
“Maybe.”
“What is it?”
The gender reveal was a cute one
It was either Captain America or Black Widow for boy or girl
Turned out it was Black Widow
Your families were happy, screaming mostly
Chris whispering nice things towards you and your girl
“You’re gonna see your best mom in the world. And your cool dad.”
You finally having the baby.
Chris almost passing out
“Chris, do not pass out on me.”
“I’m already getting light-headed.”
“Chris!”
You finally having your baby girl
Chris stole her first, of course
Him gently pulling the blanket she was wrapped in to look at her
“She’s beautiful.”
Him reaching for your hand and he let you hold her
Only for 5 minutes before taking her back
“Chris, she needs to eat.”
“Five more minutes.”
She was 1 year
Chris and Scarlet on Variety Actors on Actors
“Boom!”
“Oh my gosh, way to rub it in... I don’t even know what it is.”
“You want it, um... how’s your daughter?”
“She’s good.”
“How old is she?”
“Five. How old is she now?” Scarlet mimics him.
Chris mumbling back
Scarlet laughs, “How’s yours?”
“Oh, man. It’s amazing. She’s adorable.”
“How old is she?”
“She just turned one. It’s crazy, it’s like I just had her for one day and the poof.”
Chris is the best dad
He reads books to her
Sings songs
He offered to give her tap dance lessons
She reacted by kicking her feet out
He randomly takes her in bed with him just to sleep with her
You stolen a couple photos
Dodger is gentle with your daughter
Chris is outgoing with her
Mostly cheers her up when she cries
He spoils her
He always takes your place when you’re exhausted
He calls her, sweetheart, baby, sweet girl, mamas
You don’t know why but it’s cute
Out of all those things throughout the months. Chris would always be a great dad.
And he was happy to have you give him his dream of becoming a dad for years.
~~~
Crying in the corner, here. I’m okay. These damn cramps though are killing me
Mori Motonari, Loving Father
So I learned something interesting about Mori Motonari today. On a starting note death of children usually didn't mean shit in ancient Japan. If your son or daughter died yolo, as a Sengoku Daimyo you had more important shit to worry about.
NOT MOTONARI. His Son (one of EIGHT) was on his way back to Mori lands and stopped by an allied clan's house for dinner. He died that evening. Obviously some people jumped to poisoning, other jumped to "well, when you prepare a dinner of possibly toxic fish..." and the general attitude of that time period was "well we will let it go because we need one another's armies"
About three years after his son died of suspicious circumstances Mori Motonari had a very NOT SUSPICIOUS group of assassins show up at the dude's castle and straight up murder him. This is absolutely unheard of at this time period and shows just how much Motonari's family meant to him.
Also important of note: It wasn't as though Motonari surrounded the guy's castle and demanded he commit sepuku, an honorable death for a samurai. NO, Motonari sent guys to straight up murder this dude.
Daimyo never did that for their sons, and so this is a big deal for that time period. To compared to to something, Nobunaga told Ieyassu "murder your eldest son to show you want an alliance with me" and Ieyassu straight up murdered his kid.
Today’s Daily Dad, Who’s Going IN The Daily Dad Zone, Rudolph Holiday [Deltaruin] Mr. Holiday, Despite Currently Being Sick, Has SHown To Be A Very Jolly & Nice Guy. He’s Shown Be Affectionate & Supportive To His Daughter As Well.
It's really too bad that Heinz knows how to be a good dad. That he can put aside all of his evil goals and plans to prove how much he cares for his daughter.
And yet Gabriel Agreste can't give his son the basic attention and love he needs.
We can all agree that he'll probably be hot... Always and forever
