Tw: suicide, sh, very cynical world view, war, murder, death, politics, depression, mini vent I guess idk
but also know that a lot of stuff that I’m gonna talk about are quite important (also very long post)
In our world the first thing we do is complain, how somebody dresses, how somebody acts, how somebody sees life. We never think. We never decide to sit down and learn about ourselves, never try to see anything but ourselves. When we’re born we’re taught the rules, but never really the rules, we’re taught to do this and do that but we’re never taught why or what for, how this rule applies or when it doesn’t. We’re just taught to learn. But they never teach.
From the minute we’re born we have thoughts, we think where am I. We grow up a bit and see people being famous and successful and we are told “of course you can do that, you can do anything” . We grow up more, seeing more billionaires arise and believing we can do it too, we can do anything right?. We grow old enough to see the news, new eras of technology and social media coming in “brand new ways to live and create a name for yourself!” They tell us, then we keep watching. We stop. We grow older, we see that no, we can’t do anything, we see that we don’t want to be like those billionaires, like those famous people, like those people who we stood in awe of once. We turn back on the news “new developments have been found amidst the ______ war” we think, where am I?
We try to find hope and solace in life, we search and search, we find people who help us, who make the world seem a little better. We find people who have been hurt, we see the proof on their sleeves and we try to help. Cover the bruises with kindness, cover the cuts with care, try and try, help and help, please and beg and pray that they’ll be safe. That they’ll come home one more night. That they’ll step away from the gun, drop the knife in their hands, throw away the ropes, that they’ll lock the cabinet and not come back. But no matter how hard we try, they always come back, they always pick it back up. They always regret it.
Then we live.
We keep living. We keep seeing. We keep turning on the tv. We keep wondering how this happened. We keep asking. where am I?
The lights glow, reflecting off the scattered metal and bottles. We turn on the tv. We realize how this happened. We realize it’s not one persons fault, there wasn’t something that appeared and caused this. We look at our history books, the words slowly disappearing, and we see it. We see that no Pandora’s box could have caused this. It wasn’t some satanic being. It was us. It was people. It was always people.
We learn that no matter how hard we helped. How hard we begged and pleaded and sacrificed ourselves there was never going to be a solution. There was never going to be a good or an evil. There was never anything. There was just people. Just the beings that created and destroyed this world. The beings that could never help more than themselves. The beings that could never see more than themselves. The beings that were born of greed and hatred. The things that never did anything. Things whose only true knowledge is themselves.
