My Old OSHI Became Truly, Madly, and Deeply Obsessed With Me - By Soboro Yoshida (8/10)
I was going to write this one off, but the delusion goes deep...on both sides! The ending is really unexpected and sad. This is the ultimate toxic fantasy. Dating your favorite celebrity, secure in the knowledge that they like you more than you like them. The ideal guy is a 10/10 that can't live without you! Right? I know you're jealous ;)
Runa wasn't trying to cause trouble. Her passion is supporting handsome idols on the rise. She's a fun loving, cheerful, cute girl that embraces the cringe. She's a full on lolita goth girl that can always be found in front of an idol stage!
Her fav underdog used to be Yuki, but she moved onto a new newbie recently. Why? Well Yuki is rich and famous now! Her passion is underground idols that will shake her hand and well....frankly guys that need her. Yes, Runa is an extremely flawed character and this leads to her downfall.
She likes hot guys who need her.
She'll always love Yuki as an actor, but now that he's not a small timer who needs her
....meh.
She has no idea. Yuki remembers her. She was his favorite fan. He was really depressed and listless when his career started to take off. Becoming an actor, or a host, or a singer held little meaning to him. The role of entertainer was basically forced upon him. Everyone in his life thought he would get into entertainment based on his looks alone...and they were right. It left him feeling empty. He felt like a fraud, because he wasn't very passionate about his dreamy career.
Runa said she would support him no matter what.
Over and over, until he started to believe in himself.
How sweet!
Yuki isn't a harmless delusional fan.
That's the problem.
He's just a stalker, and when he gets his hands on more money and power his delusion grows.
He stalks Runa online first. Then, he role plays marrying her when she says she wants to be "Yuki's bride" on social media.
He's heartbroken when he finds out that she's been supporting other men. Even though he's so impressive now, and his girlfriend should only be looking at him!
Their meet-cute is only adorable for a second. Runa fangeeks. She says she'll always like him and admire his work. He sits her down with him. He's a famous guy. She starts to wonder why he's hanging around. She thinks he's acting cute, but he's also being really casual with her. They share a drink on a bench, and her heart starts to beat for the wrong reason.
She hasn't seen him outside of the concert venue in person. Ever, but he's calling her his girlfriend. Like nothing is wrong. Like their relationship was already established from the moment she proclaimed her love online.
He's scary.
She's really afraid of him. His perfect looks don't change that. It's weird to hear flirtatious words from someone you don't truly know. She woke up in his bed.
It's obvious.
He's a serial rapist and he does this to all of his innocent fans!
Oh no!
She's dating(?) one of her biggest crushes ever???
Poor Runa is so disappointed and angry, but Yuki is also big and scary. She stays in his house. He won't let her leave, and it's like a romantic movie. Nothing happens and he just says he misses her alot at work. She's a spoiled girlfriend.
Not a prisoner.
He proves it.
He's not some rapist kidnapper. He only loves her. His phone is only connected to her social media, and his contact list is empty. Plus there's no scandals around him. In the industry he's a pretty nice guy. There are no other girls. Runa is his one and only!!!
It's a dream.
Something every fan squeals about.
She randomly, passionately hooked up with a celeb who adores her!
Yay?
When they do start dating Runa learns normal things about Yuki. He's excited to know more about her, now that their loving relationship is finally getting more serious.
The honeymoon phase doesn't last long.
The threats flow like honey.
I can't live without you translates into a maze of danger. Will Yuki try to kill her, then himself, if she ever tries to break up with him? Is he constantly going to harass her whenever she even glances at another guy? Probably. Is he desperate and insecure? Yup. Is that....not the Yuki she fell for? Yup. Is it foolish and naive to want your partner to be totally dependent on you?
Yes.
This is only a one-shot. The ending is so incredibly ominous and well done. Runa's bubbly but selfish personality makes her a believable young woman. Someone who maybe...ahem...isn't actually interested in being tied down. I can see her getting bored of Yuki and his whining in the future. Maybe the near future. Runa's favorite hobby is supporting idols. She wears flashy clothes. All of her friends do the same thing. Dating Yuki means becoming a homebody and answering the phone thirty times a day. You can clearly see how they don't match as a couple.
Yuki can't, because he's crazy.
