Titans and Titans West
I've been reading the current Titans run and the series made me want to remake all of my main Titans figs, the members of the two teams who were original members of the first and second Teen Titans teams. Most of their suits are based on their current in-universe suits, with a few exceptions for my own personal creative freedom, like Wally West, whose suit is a mix of his Rebirth suit and his 2025/All In suit.
Titans: Nightwing, Flash, Donna Tory, Arsenal, Beast Boy, Cyborg, Starfire, Raven, Terra, and Tempest
Titans West: Bumblebee, Guardian, Flamebird, Omen, Hawk, and Dove
Real Thing That Actually Happens in the original Teen Titans Run:
Garth is my favorite character in this btw. Poor dude is so done with everyone all the time. I'll make a post about dumb shit in this once I get through all the issues.
I'm not a Bruce Wayne/Batman apologist or hater, but it really is worrying the effect he has on his kids, even when they're not making any point about it
Like I'm reading the 60s Teen Titans, and in issue #38, three of the kids (Dick, Donna and Mal) go through a sort of hallucination that causes them to face and overcome their greatest fear.
Donna unfortunately is given "losing her femininity" (blegh, this is from like 1972), which is slightly saved by the reasoning being Themysciran culture, with masculinity being perceived as weakness by them. So less misogynist but still sexist lol. She has to shave her head, realises dream-sexy-spy-guy still sees her as feminine, and then wakes up.
Mal has agoraphobia, and has to complete a space mission across a wide open space. The reasoning for this is that he'd once been chased by some kids, and once he got to a wide open area, they'd surrounded him and beaten him up.
So, we have cultural norms and physical trauma based fears. What does Dick Grayson get?
Fear of failure. First of all, of fucking course. Secondly, it's clearly Batman's fault. Batman literally shows up in his thoughts, telling him how bad it is he didn't save that guy's life, and how he shouldn't put that he saw the guy at all in his report (it's some vague naval scenario) because failing is more embarrassing than not having tried. (Which, relatable)
And I cannot believe that Batman's teachings weren't the formative origin of this, his biggest fear. Which is fucked up.
And obviously this is a tiny mention in an early comic where Dick's single character trait is being Robin, but that's the worst part. That Batman giving his child phobias via his parenting is a fundamental part of the character, long before later character growth and building. This was supposed to be a 'normal' representation of Dick's fears, and the 'normal' version that isn't Dick reflecting on Batman's training still clarifies that his parent is the one who gave him this anxiety.
Not to mention like, everything else in canon lol, from the much clearer explorations of this exact concept, to the canon physical and emotional abuse, even if it is for the sake of the Mission.
As I said, I'm not a Bruce/Batman hater (I'm certainly not an apologist though). I don't think he does a lot of this intentionally - he's just a messed up person trying and not knowing that he's failing for quite some time. But he really is just passing on that messed-up-ness.
stupid joke I saw in a dream + some observations </3

Mal Duncan
After saving the Teen Titans from a street gang by challenging their leader to a boxing match, Mal Duncan was asked to join the team as an official member. During his time as a Titan, Mal has tried out numerous superhero identities. This included tenures as The Guardian, the mystical trumpet wielding Herald, and the sonic-powered Vox.
Although he proved his valor on many occasions, Mal often struggled with feelings of inadequacy, that he couldn’t measure up to his super powered teammates. Mal eventually retired from his career as a superhero and settled down with his longtime girlfriend Karen Beecher (the fellow hero known as Bumblebee). Mal and Karen eventually married and have a daughter together.
Mal went on to become an award-winning composer. He briefly resumed his role as a superhero to help the Titans take down the menace of Mister Twister.
Actors Khary Payton and Kevin Michael Richardson have both voiced the character in animated projects. Mal Duncan first appeared in the pages of Teen Titans Vol. 1 #26 (1970).
