med students and interns showing up the Pitt but Dennis and Robby have their twins at the ER because their babysitter cancelled and their closest family is all the way in Nebraska
Dennis is well enough in the ER that he can teach and supervise the med students without being supervised himself and Robby’s the attending so he always has one student or intern trailing after him
it would’ve been okay had the two of them not had the twins with them, juggled the pair between them
the students don’t notice at first that the twins are theirs, they think the twins belong to a patient but said patient can’t watch them right now, so the doctors and nurses volunteered to—better to keep them entertained and close than wandering and getting into dangerous things
but the longer they’re there that first day, the more they realise that with the twins, Robby and Dennis interact way more, swapping them between them. Sometimes, one of them will end up with both twins, which leads to a lot of chaos
eventually one of them works up the courage to ask Dennis if the twins are his and Robby’s or one of theirs and Dennis just kinda blank screens.
he very hurriedly and anxiously explains that yeah, the twins are theirs, yes they’re together, no don’t question the ages, nor how long Dennis has been working there and very quickly diverts their attention back to the ER
by the end of the day, a lot of the med students have interacted sufficiently with the twins, some of them kept the pair entertained for a while so Dennis and Robby could rush about like they were supposed to all day
they’re so upset that they don’t see either of the twins for the rest of their rotation
