We have a tendency of doing thing with the expectation of getting something in return. I have been working towards the king pigeon variation of this pose for what seems like ages. And because I've worked at it for so long, I sometimes expect (or demand) it to miraculously appear. I get so focused on the end results, that I lose awareness of the opening that might be happening in the version of the pose that I'm currently in. My mind floats to the future (what my body should be doing!) and I lose the true intention of my present actions. Some days, I am able to look past the expectations and simply be present. And on those days, everything opens up and I tend to have a-ha moments. I don't think it's a coincidence... We are all working towards a direction, a goal. But don't let the expectation of the "end result" cloud the present experience. Compared to the future expectation, the present moment has more to give. Lose the awareness of it, and you miss out on all its gifts 🎁 . . .
