Even with allergy meds my nose is still full and snotty 90% of the time guhhh

one thing that i am personally very passionate about is a man who is just a mess. his hair is bedraggled and plastered to his face with sweat. he's shivering with a blanket around his shoulders. there's a feverish flush to his skin and bags under his eyes. the relentless tickle in his nose is making his eyes water and his breath catch, his lips parted in needy expectation; when he finally gets to sneeze, it's sudden and messy and draws out a pathetic groan. one hand is holding a crumpled tissue to his streaming nose and the other is snaking under the waistband of his sweatpants, and his gasp dissolves into a congested little cough when he touches himself.

Fall/out ghoul sickfic/snz headcanons.

No spoilers for the games or the show, this isn’t about any ghoul in particular.

Mess warning. Ghouls are a little gory and gross by nature and have skeleton/hole noses. Read at your discretion.

- The lack of a nose definitely makes them more sensitive overall, to literally everything. Dust, pollen, fur, strong scents, spices etc.

- Having no nose also causes their sneezes to be particularly violent, messy, and hard to stifle. Producing a massive amount of spray if they don’t manage to cover.

- It also makes having a runny nose absolute hell. Constantly having to sniffle, frequently dabbing at their already raw and sensitive nasal area with a cloth, and waking up with mess running down their faces.

- Because of that, a lot of ghouls carry something to use as a handkerchief. Though I’d imagine with the amount of dust and debris in the wasteland air, needing to blow your nose a lot is something everyone would have to deal with, but ghouls especially have it rough.

- Getting some sort of irritant lodged in there isn’t a rare occurrence. Dealing with something stuck in their nose all day, having to endure the constant tickling sensation until it finally triggers a fit.

- Though ghoulifacation may have given their immune system a huge boost and made them immune to most of the viruses that affect humans, they have their own set of infectious diseases and can very much still get sick.

- Feral ghouls are drawn to heat, so I feel like it’s not out of the box to say that ghouls have some sort of temperature regulation issue or are just sensitive to the cold. Their immune systems take a hit during the chillier months, with colds and “ghoul flu” spreading around settlements.

- A lot of ghouls already suffer from chronic aches and joint pain, but it gets amplified when they’re sick, becoming a constant sensation that’s impossible to ignore, the only real sliver of relief being heat and a soft place to rest.

- They’re particularly prone to sinus infections, a minor cold could easily develop into something much worse if they don’t take care of themselves, or just unlucky.

not to speak from personal experience or anything but i think some of you are vastly underestimating how much snot can come out of a person. this is less of a scientific statement and more of a remark on the human will

It turns out what it takes to make someone who did not grow up with an experience of Wanting To Clean Things finally Want To Clean Things is about three years in a house full of people equally if not more Reluctant To Clean Things. Anyway, a majority of the house is actually fed up at the same time, and a housemate moved to another city and we decided not to get another fifth housemate and instead use the room as extra storage/work space, so we are Doing A Spring Cleaning. In practice this means me and Al are doing most of the cleaning, with Jemima participating on the occasion she’s at home while we’re doing it, and George sitting around and only volunteering when heavy things need lifting. I don’t mind that much except that I’m not allowed to throw away their stuff. Possibly the Throw Everything Away bug that has bitten me is not entirely part of a Picture Of Mental Health, but what can you do?

We’re both a bit rusty, too. There’s a bit of working out what order things are best done in from first principles going on. Today I remembered about wiping dust off little-used surfaces? I don’t think some of those have been cleaned in ANYONE’S sporadic individual getting-fed-up-and-doing-some-cleaning spells, which usually focus on the kitchen in any case. It was pretty horrifying. However, it was very satisfying to organise the first aid kit.
