Smosh Reads Reddit Stories (June 21st, 2025) - Post 2
Spoilers for the 2nd story
I don't understand why they read/included the 2nd story (the person mispronouncing "tutorials") at all other than to just make fun of that person.
1.) That can be a difficult word to say in general. But especially when you're taken off guard by something (OP was taken off guard by no one in the room knowing who Paul Hollywood is).
2.) OP could be disabled which caused that misspeak. They could've been taken off guard by it because "tutorials" has never been a word that has given them trouble prior.
Even with my anger towards him right now, I do appreciate Damien [Haas] acknowledging some people have speech impediments and that's okay.
Some people don't like to be corrected. Especially if it is a speech impediment and they know they'll be able to get it eventually. Just be patient. If you're a little bit uncomfortable for a few minutes, you'll live. Maybe unpack why you're uncomfortable with another human being making a mistake.
When they talked about the subreddit for mispronouncing things they laughed at and made fun of someone else's mistake (that was probably autocorrect's fault). Even if it wasn't autocorrect, they laughed at and made fun of someone else just being a human being.
Then Shayne brought up people misspelling things because "it's really funny". He mentioned someone saying "It donned donned me". And they each laughed. Again, it could've been autocorrect. If it wasn't autocorrect, it was a human being who did not consent to their mistake being made fun of.
In the story's update OP says, "Again, thank you guys for laughing at my blunder with me." So it might not have been caused by a disability. And OP consents to people laughing at their mistake. But none of that was known before the update. So laughing at their mess up is still wrong.
Do Shayne [Topp], Ian [Hecox], Damien, and everyone else in the room not recognize that sometimes human beings (them included) make mistakes? That we're not "flawless"?
