GURRRLLL WYM MITRA AND VARUNA DIDN'T ONLY MITRA CURSE HER HSJSKSJD
Or was it like
Varuna: Since Mitra has cursed you.... *looks at him*
Mitra: *death stare*
Varuna: *scared and reluctantly* So do I...
Urvashi:
Urvashi: No it's my fault for tryna have a shot with a gay couple who DON'T MAKE IT CLEAR THAT THEY'RE GAY-
Varuna: WE'RE BISEXUAL-
“made up her mind to live in thw world of men” GIRLIE WAS SO DONE WITH THEM- 😭😭
NOT MITRA DEATH STARRING HIM INTO CURSING URVASHI MITRA I THOUGHT YOU WERE THE GOD OF FRIENDSHIP 💀
Urvashi: DOESN'T MATTER IT WAS MY FAULT *on the verge of loosing her mind
Varuna: well not really-
Mitra: *intensifying death stare*
Varuna: I- I mean-
Varuni and Revati: 🤦♀️
What if in like a couple of centuries or so knowledge from tumblr is taken into account as actual historical factoids of this era and when students are studying in their history class they see stuff like:
"Achilles and Patroclus were def gae as hell"
"Hera is a closeted Bi queen"
"Vasant has an uwufied voice"
"Vishnu is material babyguorl"
And the best part... they get questions like:
1. Describe the voices of each god in Hindu Mythology.
2. Create homoerotic hcs for Mitra and Varuna from Hindu mythology.
3. Prove why Hestia is an aroace icon in greek mythology and show parallels between her and Vasant from Hindu mythology
(I'm mentioning only hindu and greek mythology rn coz those r the only ones I hv a lot of knowledge abt but u add moreeeee)
LMAO I DEFINITELY agree I mean at the end of the day, this is how myths and legends are created amirit. Maybe some of these will go on to become canon and people will actually believe in em years from now who knows lol
Also that Nefertem had come to India and mingled with the Divine Lotus Cult of Gods
Or that Heqet and Indra are besties cuz Indra lobhs his phroggy pookie djdjsk
need to draw mitra varuna too actually
Mitra-Varuna
In Rigveda, they're both Devas connected to the Sun but Ancient Brahmana texts also associate them with the two lunar phases.
here i've depicted them as the sun and the moon respectively, and i like to think they meet by the water every night, right when the sun goes down and the moon comes up [yes i know the science doesn't check out just let me have this].
bonus:
So I came across this post right
And apart from some heavy misrepresentation (like Indra getting villified and the lack of female deities that aren't attached to a mother character), the ones that they got absolutely right are these two:
Because in the Hindu texts, Varun and Mitra have an extremely queer-coded relationship. They even have two biological kids together and have canonically done the birds and the bees, let's just say.
Buttt their relationship is also affected by a comphet story where they both fall for an apsara (a celestial nymph), Urvashi, and they kind of have a throuple situation in some texts, while in others they sort of compete to get Urvashi.
Mitra is also very Mike-coded other than the fact that he's almost ALWAYS summoned alongside Varuna (they're literally inseparable btw), given his leadership skills and the ability to bring and keep the group together. Mitra also has an extremely ooc moment where he is mean to Urvashi cuz he saw Varun propose to her, even if she rejected him FOR MITRA. Idk wtf that scene was but that was NOT my Mitra lmao. So there's that too.
The only difference is that their color schemes are switched. Mitra is the yellow one and the literal sun (and day), while Varuna is the blue one, and is the moon (and night).
Also Varuna's personality isn't really like that of Will's, other than the fact that he's reserved sometimes, and confrontational.
Their fate is the same comphet one cuz they both get wives eventually but their relationship doesn't change at any point so at least there's consistency ig
Now you can ignore Jane/El being Agni cuz none of them have any romantic relationship with him. Agni is reserved for his boyfriend Soma (also a moon and wind god) and his wife Svaha only.
How Mitra must’ve looked when he saw Urvashi talking to Varuna
