Makhana Masala Crunch: The Healthy Movie Night Recipe
Movie nights are incomplete without something crunchy.
But most packaged snacks come with excess oil, artificial flavours, and ingredients that make you feel heavy after eating.
A simple homemade alternative can change that.
Makhana is naturally light, crunchy, and extremely versatile. With the right spices, it can easily become your go-to snack for movie nights, evening cravings, or quick bites between meals.
Here is a simple way to make Makhana Masala Crunch at home.
Ingredients:
2 cups Khetika Premium Makhana
1 tsp ghee or oil
½ tsp turmeric powder
½ tsp red chilli powder
½ tsp roasted cumin powder
Salt as per taste
A pinch of black pepper
Step 1: Roast the Makhana
Heat a pan on a low flame and add Khetika Premium Makhana.
Roast slowly for 8 to 10 minutes while stirring continuously until the makhana becomes crisp. You can check by crushing one between your fingers. It should break easily with a crunchy sound.
Step 2: Add the Flavour
Once roasted, add ghee or oil and mix well so every makhana gets lightly coated.
Now add turmeric, chilli powder, cumin powder, black pepper, and salt.
Step 3: Mix Everything Together
Toss the makhana properly so the spices coat evenly.
Keep roasting for another minute or two on low flame to help the flavours settle.
Step 4: Cool and Store
Allow the makhana crunch to cool completely before storing it in an airtight container.
Enjoy it during movie nights, evening tea, or whenever you crave something crunchy.
The best snacks are often the simplest ones.
A little roasting.
A few familiar spices.
And an ingredient that has been part of Indian kitchens for generations.
Sometimes healthier snacking is not about giving up your favourites.
It is about making them better.
