Mr Fogg

Les comparto las canciones tan lindas que hace Phil Barry, este músico alternativo y cantante británico de Berkshire, que se hace llamar Mr Fogg (nombre tomado de Phileas Fogg, el personaje de Julio Verne en su novela "La vuelta al mundo en 80 días") y que como dato curioso llegó a la música por ser nieto de una cantante de ópera y bisnieto de dos artistas de music hall del siglo XIX, entre otras cosas. Si se preguntan qué tipo de música hace, una búsqueda rápida por Google les podría decir que comenzó haciendo una especie de indie y synth-pop, moviéndose después entre la electrónica, el electro-dance el electro-pop y finalmente al chamber-pop en álbumes más recientes (incorporando instrumentos acústicos). Ahora que si me preguntan mi opinión personal, les podría decir que para mí este artista es una mezcla muy afortunada de influencias, que suena como si tomarás los falsetos de Sigur Rós, las melodías melancólicas de GranDaddy, las cajas de ritmos experimentales de Radiohead y los reefs minimalistas electro-rockeros de M83, los metieras en una licuadora, aderezas esto con algunas colaboraciones significativas y remixes con nombres como Bjork o John Digweed... y el resultado de todo eso es Mr Fogg. Este músico no es precisamente nuevo, ya va como para 20 añitos haciendo cosas (su primer sencillo es de 2006). Pero si quieren que les recomiende algunas canciones para empezar a conocerlo les dejo la del video de este posteo (Time to ascend, 2015), así como otras 5 o 6 que yo ya tengo y muy faveadas en mi Spotify: 1. Fogg's Asylum

The part of Sweeney Todd where they actually show Anthony at Fogg's Asylum (after Ben Barker has transformed him into a "master wigmaker") is just... The first interaction between Anthony and Mr. Fogg is really fucking creepy. He refers to his patients as his children, and they are "to be corrected when they're naughty, and rewarded with a sweet when they are good." And the look on his face when he brings up discussing a price for Johanna's hair is that of a madman belonging in a looney bin. And when Johanna shoots him... well, he deserved all that he got and more, I'm sure.  In short, Jonas Fogg belongs in his own asylum.
