Question: Why does Raikiri/Chidori cause tunnel vision? Or, rather, what exactly does Chidori do?
Because according to Minato and the Naruto wiki (I’m lazy af, sue me), the speed of performing Chidori causes tunnel vision. But that doesn’t really make sense? Can’t Kakashi just move slower, then?
And I present to you this scene:
Minato specifically says that it makes Kakashi “move to fast to ascertain the opponent’s counterattack.” Something about Chidori causes the user to move faster, apparently, enhancing speed but also causing tunnel vision.
But Quin! Kakashi wasn’t moving when he used it on Zabuza! Yeah, yeah, I know. At first I theorized that it was the lightning itself that causes the tunnel vision, but, obviously, that doesn’t make sense, considering that that would mean everyone who uses lightning jutsu would need a Sharingan. And the Naruto wiki specifically says that it’s “the speed at which the Chidori is performed” that causes the tunnel vision.
So, theories, anyone?
