For those that are servers/ delivery drivers: how often to you not get tipped per shift? Because I want to scream rn.
e-blast #38
As well as you all know, I’m trying to keep up with this gossip site. Recently there have been some technical issues, there aren’t any tips. If you have some gossip, send it to me in the tips section in my site.
In the meantime I will reflect on something I always knew, and that is.
I always knew if I wanted something done right I had to be the one doing it!
Don’t wait up, this can take long.
If anyone here on tumblr wants to show gratitude to grocery store clerks (and I hope this isn’t an unpopular opinion) you do NOT have to tip us. So many people I know are out of work now. My job just happens to be one that needs to stay active and it’s by chance that I happened to have this job in March 2020. And honestly, I’m just working, though it is a little crazy with how long we’ll be out of this product or that (we’re ordering and receiving, but warehouses are playing catch up, so something will be out no matter what) and it’s the day before Thanksgiving almost every day now, with random stretches of silence.Â
But don’t tip us “for all we are doing.” We happened to have these jobs when it happened. You don’t owe me extra money, and if it is something I deserve for working where I do, it’s someone else’s job to increase pay, improve benefits, adjust time and a half, and cover our backs. You keep your money for you or a friend.Â
Instead, use green bags as often as possible, because we are using so much more plastic and paper towels and going through more water and sanitizer and food safe work gloves. Even when things were “normal” we were using a crap ton. So, try and bring in a suitable bag from home (There will be signs or information is available as far as what can be accepted as a green bag. There are restrictions).
I’m so tired of being sick.
Okay so normally I don't post things like this but because I was not tipped at all by 6 different tables in the last two days (2 last night and 4 today during lunch) I'm going to say something for people who might do this. If you are going out to eat, and you aren't going to tip: order your meals to-go or go to a fast food restaurant. No hard working, or (in my case) injured server on her feet deserves that. We take care of you for 45 minutes to an hour (or longer) and sit in their section and take up space without tipping (thank you assholes). I'm really ticked off that during a pandemic so many people are doing this to amazing service workers. We are putting ourselves at risk and take care of you with no knowledge if you have (or had) COVID-19. Many places are short staffed and don't have the time to deal with your bad attitude to anyone. Also, your To-Go staff deserves some type of tip (just as much as servers), because they are working hard to get everyones orders out in an efficient time. Someone will be going hungry (them or their children who they are trying to raise and care for in this hard time) if you do not tip. Some of those people can't make a bill, because you couldn't at least tip 5 dollars. I worked my ass off the past few days (should be resting due to my injury), because we are short staffed. So, if I can work with a pulled nerve, that makes it difficult to move my whole left leg, then you can give 5 dollars to your server. End of story!
