First stop for me is always the Goth house to break up Don and Cassandra, because I am a certified Don/Cassandra hater. I headcanon that the scripted event is a wedding rehearsal, since I would think the Goths the type to throw a huge fancy wedding party and it's strange that it's just the four of them in the backyard.

After being left at the altar and a quick visit from the Therapist, Cassandra's best friend Darren called to invite her out to Bernard's Botanical Dining. Cassandra rolled the want to flirt, which I was happy to indulge. Sent them over to blow some bubbles with Opal Contrary to raise Cassandra's fun, then sent her home.

Back at the Goth residence, Alexander and Mortimer played a few games of chess, had dinner, and went to bed. Mortimer is always sure to wish Bella a good night.

In the morning, Cassandra went to work and Alexander went to school. Mortimer only has about a week to finish his bug collection before he croaks, so I sent him out to get started. It did not go well.

Finding Family

Rick is surprised when his father calls to congratulate him on finishing his degree. The conversation is short. And polite, rather than familial. But it gives him a bit of hope.

Opal Contrary even shows up to her son's graduation party.

But when she approaches, it's not to embrace her only child. It's to berate him on his life choices.

Rick is hurt, of course. And embarrassed that his mother decided to cause a scene right in front of Emmitt's family. But he knows his future was waiting for him elsewhere. And that gives the courage to wipe his tears and move on.

Rick and Emmitt marry in a private ceremony, with just a few close friends and Emmitt's family in attendance.

And though they had some disagreements earlier, Emmitt's mom has completely accepted Rick into her family home.

And they've gotten very close. Rick feels he's finally found a place where he belongs. The past can't be changed, but he find healing in making new memories with his found family.

Finally, by the end of the week, the "Grunts" were supposed to throw their little wedding party for family and friends. Opal still couldn't help feeling nervous and kept overthinking about getting remarried so soon.

Buzz: How do I look, son? It's been a hot while since I dressed like that. I'm surprised it still fits me.

Buck: It's been long time, hasn't it? When was the last time I saw you in a suit? Mom's funeral?

Buzz: Wow, that's... you really know how to make the atmosphere awkward, don't you?

Buck: I'm not wrong, though.
