"have you noticed how brightly the stars are shining whenever you're outside?" You asked, eyes pointed at Eva, who tried to not react with how close she could feel you. "Almost like they were made for you!" The stars were especially bright above the two women.
"I do hope you understand that I'm a decade older than you." Whilst Eva was forty five, you were only thirty five. Younger and a little less experienced than the madam director standing next to you.
"I said what I said." You commented, playing innocent. Eva blinked at you, then shook her head with her jaw tensed. It was bad obviously, you should be helping Grace or any of the other scientists with the Astrophage problem, not flirting with your boss.
"you need to be working, the sun is dying and you're trying to get me in bed." Eva looked at you.
"I'm not trying to get you in bed. Only wanted to ask you out on a very special date before the world ends if this hail mary plan goes to shit." You were bold, she'd give you that.
"we're on a ship." Eva looked beyond bored at this point.
"there's a cafeteria." You said, grinning.
"it's not exactly special, is it?" Eva asked.
"give me a break here," you scoffed, turning to the stars, "I'm not exactly a god at asking out hot people."
Eva's breath hitched. No one's called her that in, well, in a long time. She wasn't bad looking, but with the wrinkles coming in and the frown lines and everything else that was wrong with her, she'd have thought someone wouldn't really notice her. Especially after she became the boss of everyone. "I'm not..." When did she become so shy. She cleared her throat. "Absolutely not, don't do that."
You turned to her, noticing the flustered cheeks. A smirk became apparent on your lips. "Do what?" You teased, leaning in slightly. Eva was definitely warmer, that's for sure. "Maybe you need to relax a bit."
Eva was surprised by how bold you're becoming in her flustered state. Maybe she could relax a bit tonight. With you in her company. "Yeah, okay." She was quiet. But honestly, the way you stared at her made her heart jump. You grabbed her hands, tugging her with you. You kissed her once, twice... Maybe thrice. You didn't know, all you know is that the woman you pinned for, for ages, was willing to try a complicated relationship.
Even if the earth and sun were dying, you could be human with someone that night. So completely human.
