so, after careful thought and consideration, I decided that I would share my opinion on the Orange Side. buckles up for a new ride.

SPOILERS BELOW:

alright, so we all know that there's going to be an orange side, the only question is who it's going to be in relation to. this is going to sound kinda messy, but stay with me.

so, we have the Core Four (Light Sides) and the Dark Sides. we all know them, we all love them. in the last Asides episode, we say what happened to Logan with the eyes. I think the running theory is that Orange will be connected to Logan?

I actually think that Orange is going to be connected to Roman.

I know, I know, it's a bit out there; give me a sec, it'll make sense.

so, the way I see it, the Dark Sides are kind of like fun house mirrors or the other side to a coin. they portray a darker version of a Side that character Thomas already has.

so the seen order goes like this:

Patton - Janus

Roman - Remus

Logan - Orange

with Virgil being the outlier.

but I think the order is actually:

Patton - Janus

Logan - Virgil

Roman - Orange

with REMUS being the outlier.

if you think about it, Remus doesn't actually have a set opposite. Remus doesn't really have another side of his coin. Intrusive Thoughts he may be, but Remus is still Creativity.

Creativity was split, which as far as we know, wasn't actually supposed to happen. Roman and Remus are the same side of a coin, just shaded differently.

"but Mad!" you ask, readying your questions, "how are Virgil and Logan opposites?" and I'm so glad you asked, imaginary other half of this conversation, I'll tell you!

Virgil is anxiety while Logan is logic. they're hardly total opposites! but none of the sides are each others total opposite. but if you think about it, Logan is logic and rationality whilst Virgil is anxiety which has no logic or rationality. logic is "here's how this will likely happen" while anxiety is "here's every way this can go wrong". Logan and Virgil are literally each other's folly, anxiety ignoring logic, logic overruling anxiety, and both going pretty hand in hand.

a lot believe that the next side will be Rage, with the outburst of violence that Logan displayed in Working THROUGH Intrusive Thoughts.

this is a pretty solid theory. there's a lot of evidence pointing towards it, the biggest currently being Logan's anger with ORANGE eyes.

but I think Logan is a misdirect, meant to keep our attention away from what's really happening. I think the next side could also be Apathy or Sloth.

Wrath does make a lot of sense when compared to the way Logan acted. I think though, that in doing so, we're ignoring that all of the sides have has outbursts like that. Patton, Roman, and Virgil have all had scenes of anger outbursts.

of course, Virgil's could be his personality trait (Anxiety) rather than an outburst, but that's not the point.

Logan is not the first side to have an angry outburst, nor will he be the last I believe.

at any rate; Orange, who ever he may be, will be a lot of fun to theorize until he gets here. I sincerely can't wait to see who he'll become and how his story affects the other.

No Janus does not know about the Orange Side, whose name is definitely going to be Julius (Orange Julius? The drink? I am very good at Theory) and the other sides know that Julius is the biggest Harry Potter fan

Sometimes I see a post with six sides in it and I tag it with #the gang’s all here to save time by not typing all characters’ names one by one. But every single time I’m also thinking: “The gang’s not all here :( Orange boi, where are u?”

For some reason I kind of feel bad when I’m using this tag when he wasn’t formally introduced yet. But we had an incomplete set of sides for so long that it really feels like there will always be someone else lurking in the shadows and waiting for their moment to show up.
