Going forward when it comes to the recent visibility of alterhumanity, it's important to realize that almost no bigot is going to bother to differentiate between "furry", "alterhuman", "nonhuman", "therian", "otherkin", etc. When some asshole insults "furries" for "thinking they're animals", explaining the difference between furries and therians isn't going to help. When a fictionkin person feels threatened by someone expressing hatred for furries, telling them that there's a big difference between the two only clouds the point. Bigots do not care! If they have decided that "furry" is the blanket term they'll use for all of us, then that means they're including all of us in their words, even if it's inaccurate.
In other words, we're in this together. Bigots will not differentiate, which means we must stand together in unity. We have wikis, accessible definitions, so much content to help explain the range of our experiences; it's their choice not to listen to them. If they're going to target us all, then we can't go nitpicking details lest it tear us apart. We have to be a solid force they can't push down and mock forever.
