Phytic acid is a small molecule found in seeds like grains, beans, and nuts that binds (chelates) certain essential minerals—particularly calcium, iron, magnesium, and zinc—and reduces their absorption from food. This applies to a single meal, not overall nutrient absorption throughout the day. In other words, phytic acid reduces mineral absorption during the meal but doesn't have any effect on subsequent meals. However, when you eat different types of food that contains high phytic acid with most of your meals, mineral deficiencies may develop over time. Grains and legumes have been consumed for many years, but it wasn’t until the past 50+ years that we stopped traditionally preparing grains by soaking them. . Traditionally grains were soaked in water with something acidic such as lemon juice, yogurt, or apple cider vinegar. This process would break down the anti-nutrients in the grain and release its minerals making them able to nourish our bodies and make the grains digestible. . Phytic acid is one of the anti-nutrients in grains that make it difficult to consume grains. It works by binding to the minerals (such as calcium, iron, phosphorus, magnesium, copper and zinc) in the grain and preventing them from being absorbed in the digestive tract. . Nowadays, we have a diet high in grains but these grains are not benefiting our bodies if we can’t get the proper nutrients from them. This means we become deficient in these minerals leading to conditions such as bone loss, digestive disorders, allergies and mental illnesses. . Phytic acid not only grabs on to important minerals, but also inhibits enzymes that we need to digest our food. . What's in your lunch box today? 🍴 • • • Black rice with coconut and beef and broccoli stir fry in mine. • We eat black rice because it's so high in #antioxidants, #protein and #iron compared to other rice. But i have recently been doing some #SIBO research for a friend and i might test jasmine rice, which is let nutrient dense but supposedly far easier to #digest. Remember to soak your rice in an acidic medium for at least 24hours to at least partially reduce #antinutrients like #phyticacid. • • • While grains are definitely not always the most #nutritious choice, I think sometimes, particularly due to things like #budget, we have to make compromises. And so I try to limit grains, prepare them using #traditional methods, and choose them wisely. Speaking of peels, here is a prime example of the physiological differences of "colored" people vs "white" people. It is found in most if not all plant-based foods, including the peel. But, this is only in EUROPEANS. People have different chromosomes activated and shut off. Europeans and many unmixed Arabs' (Both Caucasiod from Haplogroup J) 11th chromosome is shut off. This produces #Tyrosine, the amino acid precursor to melanin production in the skin, hair, and eyes. People of color, with Eumelanin, have a working 11th chromosome, which is why they are black, brown, tan/red or yellow. #Pheomelanin in whites, including many unmixed Arabs, is from the 15th chromosome (if i'm not mistaken) which is where the precusor amino acid #Cysteine comes from. Colored people do NOT have this problem with phytic acid. Tyrosine (and Vitamin C, which healthily oxidates it) nuetralizes phytic acid, and at that point it becomes a nutrient because it makes sure Iron doesn't get stuck in your organs and tissues, which then becomes #Hemotomacrosis, leading to organ toxicity, a rising issue in the Black community causing kidney failure, liver problems and other organ issues. 👉 This is from lack of plant-based foods, specifically FRUIT. Phytic acid also stops tumor development and lack of it causes #Fybroids in the woman's uterus. It is anti-Cancer, which is why fybroids are defined as "noncancerous growths", theyre putting emphasis on that and we don't realize it.
