Hey, psst 👀
I’ve got a question about your fic :D
I noticed it’s 30 chapters in total? How do you even know that? 😅 (I swear no matter how much I plan, I never know exactly how many chapters it’s gonna be in my case lol)
And act two starts on chapter 8? How do you plan that? Do you actually plan it? How many acts is it gonna have? Are you following a three-act structure or something like that?
I’m just curious hehe (I’m loving your fic, I really want to know what’s gonna happen!)
Hey tutlevariabilis! ;3 I am so excited to answer this question. This is an amazing question, omg!
Alas! After I did the initial beat-by-beat planning, I estimated it would be about thirty chapters once complete. That being said, I could be completely wrong! LOL! I actually am starting to think it's gonna be at least ten chapters longer than the estimate (which is totally fine, a story has to breathe!)
I am following the standard three-act structure for this fic, so I am expecting Act Two to take up the bulk of it. By following the three-act structure and what I've learned from making scripts, I simplified the crap out of this story into its core beats!
If you are curious to know what a beat sheet is and want to know more about what I am talking about, I highly recommend reading Save the Cat by Blake Snyder.
Here is how Save the Cat structures its three-act plots:
Save the Cat is a really good resource in general when creating and planning a story! Now I don't follow it to a T I am mixing all the ingredients I've picked up over the years to make Protocol: B. I got a bit of Brandon Sanderson's Philosphies on Plot in here, as well as the basic Three-Act Structure story plan.
Also, this is the way a typical film does its act structure (you've probably seen this before)
Act II, starting on chapter 8, all depended upon the catalyst. The catalyst is described as the life-changing, story-igniting moment that disrupts the protagonist’s normal world. It acts as the inciting incident, forcing the hero out of their comfort zone and into action, setting the main plot in motion.
The inciting incident in question is our B-Team boys crashing in Chapter 4, which then led to our "Debate" or "Second Thoughts" portion taking place in the ugly corporate office building before the Act One Climax in Chapter 7.
To be honest, there is only so much planning you can do before the story starts growing big and strong! Mine outgrew some of the planned out beats like three times to the point where I actually needed more, and this beat sheet is already full of juice.
This was such a good question! Ah! I love talking story, you have no idea! It is what I live for, to be honest!!!
I was so happy to see your comments as you read through it! Gah! I am having so much fun with this fic! It's good to get the story juices flowing again after they have been dormant for so long ;-;
“Where are you going Kuzan?” said Sengoku.
Kuzan cursed in his head, halting by the door just as Sengoku was walking in. So, maybe the hour was closer to lunch than close of business, but Sengoku had asked him to investigate. Still, Kuzan felt the glimmer of guilt.
“Out.” It was too much effort to explain to the man in detail.
“He’s going to that club again,” teased Borsalino, leaning on Sakazuki’s desk.
Kuzan flinched. Damn that old man, how the hell had he guessed? Again.
“He’s been going there so frequently, saying that it’s a comfortable place to relax, but he comes back every time looking as though he’s blue in the balls,” continued Borsalino.
The glare Kuzan sent Borsalino should have frozen the man into a block ice. Unfortunately, it wasn’t right to freeze unsuspecting colleagues because they were being annoying.
“Damn it, Borsalino,” he scowled.
“What? It’s not true?” That infuriating man just smiled.
“No,” Kuzan lied, feeling a jolt of guilt once again. Because the man wasn’t wrong about going to Castelle’s again. He was just wrong about the blue balls. Can’t get blue balls if nothing makes them blue.
Borsalino’s smile widened. “Then where are you going?”
Yes Kuzan, where am I going?
Sengoku’s brows rose in question, waiting.
Borsalino’s smile widened, again.
And Sakazuki grumbled, Kuzan had forgotten he was there.
“To find a cactus,” said Kuzan.
“Oh.” Borsalino looked disappointed.
Good. He didn’t need to know that Kuzan was looking for one particular, very rare, type of cactus that seemed to only bloom once in a blue moon and of which he only caught by coincidence no matter how frequently he chased it. So yes, you were a very prickly cactus, with a disappointing breast size.

The 3 Star Trio
First official “promo” art for my fic, *Reassembled* Takes place after the end of the events of Security Breach and the Princess Quest ending. The problem is… these three, are not a family. Not at all. They aren’t even FRIENDS, save for Gregory and Freddy and even then, they’ve only known each other for a few hours under dire circumstances. And then you have Vanessa, whose guilt drives her to the point of feeling obligated to return the favor to the child that saved her (that she also tried to kill as Vanny, and berated as herself). As well as Freddy, whom she was INCREDIBLY hostile to and threaten to decommission if he was helping the child. So.. they shouldn’t even like her, right? So then how does this unlikely trio of traumatized misfits… become a family?
OR
My take on origin of the 3 star fam, with more nuanced takes on the characters and their relationships, oh and psychological exploration :3
Important details
-this story is driven by the idea of my own “fragmented mind theory,” in which the glitchtrap virus created Vanny, the dark version of Vanessa, using a combination of trauma, intrusive thoughts, and perceived negative traits and amplifying them to an overwhelming degree. So they are, in many ways, the same person, but Vanny still would not exist without glitchtraps heavy influence
-the entire 3 star trio (pre-relationship 3 star fam) are autistic coded, and much of the actions and psychological implications is centered around this
-all of the characters are morally grey. There is no “Vanessa fully good and Vanny fully bad” shit. I’m not a fan. To me it’s way more nuanced and deserves to be explored as such
-the story will take place in 3 acts, with act 1 already complete and act 2 on the way :3
So if anyone’s interested in reading this monster I’ve poured my blood, sweat, tears, and trauma into creating. Well, here ya go
An Archive of Our Own, a project of the Organization for Transformative Works
I go through periods where rereading some of my old King Arthur fanfic reminds me how much fun I had doing it - and how much I miss the time when the fandom was in its heyday (even if it was a tiny fandom). Bless everyone that still kudos, comments and reads my work. I love every version of Arthur and Lancelot so much.
