I usually don’t talk about being plural because I am “functionally” single.
Like even beyond masking in public, you would never even know I’m plural irl unless you asked specifically. Probably not online either, because i have so many different accounts on different platforms that are completely untraceable to each other. I don’t use different names irl, i don’t use we/us in conversational type or speech, I don’t use different pronouns, I don’t have dissociative barriers, I don’t switch in any noticeable way. My plurality isn’t related to a disability, and it doesn’t disable me in itself at all.
I’m not a system, but I am my many different selves. All the masks and the wearer in one. Single and plural.
I think a lot of people who experience themselves in a very similar way to myself wouldn’t use the word plural, which is ok too. It’s just the language that works best for me, limited and imperfect as any of the infinite other ways to articulate consciousness.
okay so im more questioning plural than anything (if thats not allowed here then feel free to delete/ignore this, no hard feelings lol) but i NEED to get plural opinions on this because its been kind of driving me crazy and i have not seen anyone else talk about an experience like this.
folks is it a plural symptom to obsessively think about whether or not you're plural and straight up being Unable To Stop. like no matter what i do i cant stop thinking about the possibility i might be plural and my brain will just not take 'no' as an answer. like i opened up pandoras box sort of shit.
and its not even like 'ohhh it's obvious in hindsight'- i seemingly fit only a few boxes and only remember one (1) time that a different voice spoke to me in my head which lasted like 15 seconds total and was just them yelling at the top of their lungs to go buy a pumpkin pie. last year. before i even thought about plurality. and yet i have been stuck in logic loops for at least 8 MONTHS because my brain wont Shut UP about it despite how hard ive pushed back on the idea. if i try to say i dont, my brain will continue to give tidbits that seem very close to plural symptoms and pester me about it. if i try to go all in with being plural, then i go on with my life not really feeling any different or having any 'obvious' plurality tells and start doubting. repeat ad nauseam.
ive only recently got it to quiet down because i finally went 'okay FINE. ill play along. i guess it doesnt hurt if i pretend to have plurality in private' and ive been kind of been letting it sit lowkey within me instead of trying to 'act plural' (which i guess is what happened back in march for me, when i tried 'testing out the waters', but instead caused me to kind of. reject the idea of being plural even harder because it felt i was faking to the highest degree. despite doing all of that plural ''''acting'''' on a private tumblr account only i had access to. so like whats the point why would i be doing that)
sorry for the huge block of text but. as you can see ive thought quite a bit about this topic. anyways is this an actual sign of me being plural or do i have a compulsive disorder of some kind. i feel like a haunted victorian suffering from an unknown illness :')
Ok so I'm taking over this ask without telling mod 13th so we have no idea if he's online answering another ask or this one...... if a second answer get posted to this or it bugs out or idk whatever happens when two admins answer one ask then blame us
We (this mod) don't really want to answer "is this plural symptoms" too much since it's not really the focus of the blog, but in our eyes, that seems like... plurality. So I'll answer it anyways. Pandora's box is very fitting here even for us.
Our syscovery was like half a year ago for us, and first months were nothing like this, but lately the moment any of us think about our headmates everyone either 1. pours into being conscious and starts fighting / conversing / monologuing or 2. stays silent and stares at whoever's fronting intensely or 3. has non tangible radio chatter of themself. Usually 2nd or 3rd scenario.
Not taking no for an answer on being plural... is giving plural.
The "acting plural" feeling will hopefully go away in a... few weeks or months. Maybe. We still get it in the singlet leaning phases (we're pluralflux). If you haven't yet, go call out to those voices. Ask them what they want for dinner, since they wanted pumpkin pie once. Maybe you'll get a response. Maybe you won't. It's sometimes a waiting game so don't push it, ok? And faking is usually a conscious decision. You wouldn't be worrying about faking it if you were faking it.
Good places to start looking at what others may be going through is the median tags since they're often full of systems who have really quiet headmates or feel like they're forcing their system.
... And don't sweat it about compulsive disorders-- no idea if this would even be obsessive or compulsive, but unless it's distressing then it shouldn't be a big thing to worry about.
We're exhausted so if there's any word salads mixed in here, sorry.
Hello, we've decided to conduct a study on different the different kinds of plural experiences. Part of our data collection is a series of surveys that we're currently creating. Does anypony have suggestions for things that they think would be important to include?
The reason we're asking this question is because listening to folks is one of the best ways to learn about them; therefore a crucial aspect of conducting a study with the purpose of education, awareness, and the breaking down of misinformation.
I hate so much being in that awkward place between singlet and plural. And I don't even mean median systems where there's still a good sense of being multiple people, for me it's just... whatever. I swear I'm like... √2 people. More than one, but not enough to be 'multiple people'. I've had moments where I feel like it's more obvious, but it's hard to tell...
Maybe I should just make art about it. It's hard to explain this in words.
