the painstaking process of pointillism lol
been a lil while since I shared some progress shots of an artwork so have this of a recent pointillism piece I did of reece shearsmith!
read below for some thoughts and advice for anyone who's interested in doing pointillism! (from someone who has done less than 10 pointillist pieces in their life pfft...)
Focal point of the simplified Bed/Sitting Room is a Spanish Renaissance carved and polychromed wood figure of St. John; the early-17th century work has been attributed to El Greco. The pointillist painting is by Sr. Arango.
Contemporary Apartments, 1982
Today in coming-of-age black comedy movie history: on June 16, 2001 Ghost World was screened at the Seattle International Film Festival.
Camille Pissarro was a versatile and experimental Impressionist artist who, in the mid- 1880s, adopted a new style popularized by Georges Seurat and others of using small dabs of color to create pictures of breathtaking effect. The Pointillist technique enabled Pissarro to render this foggy view of factories and barges on a river in Rouen, France, with subtle beauty in a delicate range of colors. The artist’s shift in style was accompanied by a change in working methods; Pissarro painted this labor-intensive picture in his studio from drawings and etchings rather than en plein air. "L’île Lacroix, Rouen (The Effect of Fog)," 1888, by Camille Pissarro
#pointillism is one of the most difficult, time consuming, and frustrating styles of art I’ve ever done. I love it. • #wip #hourglass #prismacolor #pointillist #instaart https://www.instagram.com/p/B6s6glgBbU4/?igshid=1tyducsq1t6o4
