ACTUALLY polyamory is six people yelling at you to drink water and tea and take a nap when you’re sick
I’m only dating two of them
i'm going to a kink event with a new partner tomorrow and i'm so excited and nervous i could puke
someone: *asks me out*
my polyamorous self, terrified of what they’ll say if I say I’m taken but also want to be in a relationship with them:
a thought I had
I’ve been watching Erik Conover’s tours of mansions (just look up “Erik Conover” on YouTube) and I can’t stop thinking about how awesome it would be to live in a mansion with your polycule. Like, you have a ridiculous amount of space but you’re all on the same property. You can share bedrooms if you want, but you don’t really have to if you don’t want to. idk, it would be amazing.
I promise I don't mean this in a disrespectful way I'm just genuinely curious... when were/are poly people fired for their orientation? I've never heard of that before?
hey anon, sorry for the late reply. Though I don’t have exact statistics because enough research hasn’t been conducted on the matter, it does unfortunately happen quite a lot with businesses concerned with their employees’ lifestyle and how it affects their image [which nowadays is.. most of them]Most people are outed through social media check ups [which are extremely common but also extremely unethical, might I add], and are then either denied jobs or fired for living a [insert-slut-shaming-term-here] lifestyle. Specifically, with the whole orientation vs lifestyle debate, a couple years ago a woman in Australia was specifically fired for, and I quote, being “on a list of “poly-friendly” counsellors published on a website for those who practice non-monogamy. She sued on the grounds she was fired for being polyamorous, but a judge rejected her argument, ruling that having multiple partners didn’t qualify as a sexual orientation.”It is generally legal to do so in most countries I’m aware of, because of the lack of recognition of polyam as an orientation/minority. [That said, I feel obligated to add a disclaimer and that is that not all people who practice consensual non-monogamy are in fact polyamorous by orientation, though they sometimes can suffer similar kinds of discrimination]
Is this person hitting on me or just being super friendly?
And the thrilling sequel
Are they poly or do they just assume I’m single because I’m flirting back?
New poly situation?
Anyone ever have one of their partners going off to be with a partner separate from you? Me and T have been dating monogamously for 2.5yrs and just realized we’re poly. So far all our adventures have been as a couple. But she may go down to see one of her crushes who is really struggling. We’ve never done anything poly with only one of us and I know she and our partners in Florida would love me to one too, but I can’t.
Wondering if feeling a little left out/less important/jealous is a normal response and how to teach myself that it’s ok for this because I want this to be an ok thing but it just hasn’t come up yet...
