Time Slows Down Whenever You're Around I Can Feel My Heart It's Beating Out Of My Chest Did You Feel It?

The air is cold and chilly as it shivers through cracks and holes of the Curtis household. You're in a thick sweater and jeans, but the air still slips through and shakes through your bones. Everyone is at work or out on their own time, so you and Ponyboy are left alone. The yellow and red leaves on the trees whistle as the cold wind runs through them. “Hey, what are you making?” The soft southern accent fills your ears and his face comes into your vision. The thick mop of dark brown hair is clean, not even a speck of grease inside of it.

“I’m making hot chocolate and extra marshmallows. Just how you like it.” You say to him while you mix the mix with the warm milk you made in the pot. “Smells good! I just got finished with my English homework.” You smile at Pony and pull the pot off the heat, then you pour it into two mugs. Ponyboy takes one and sets it down onto the small wooden table in the middle of the room, and you hand him the mini marshmallows and whipped cream you had made from scratch.

He takes a thick scoop of whipped cream and drops marshmallows onto the top. Then, be takes a big sip and he pulls away with a whipped cream mustache. “Look at you Pony!” Then, you tug his arm for him to follow you into his bedroom. Pony is laughing as he follows you. You turn the radio on and turn it low enough, just enough to heat it. The Beatles play and you sing along, gently wiggling your hips.

You sit down next to him on his bed as he sips from the mug. You lay your head on his shoulder and continue sipping as the warmth fills you. With Pony’s natural radiation of body heat and the warm drink, you're almost forgetting the coldness that slips through the thin blankets. “‘M cold.” You say gently and scoop further into him, head drilling against his chest. His arm pulls you further in and you stare into his soft eyes.

The darkness in his brown eyes is a soft honey brown. He looks so much more gorgeous in this as you both stare. “Oh I love this song.” As you softly sing along, just under your breath, Pony stares at you. All he sees is love and comfort something he desperately wants to feel. He wasn't sure about his brothers or his friends, but he was sure about you. You showed him affection and love, without wanting back whenever he didn't want to. He was bad at showing love, ever since his parents had passed away, he wasn't sure if he wanted to get so connected to people.

“I love you,” Pony begins and his hand runs against your shoulder as he pretends his fingers are running. “So much.” He admits to you and you follow his eyes. It's quiet and much different than he usually is. He puts up a front around his friends to hide his feelings, but around you it's so difficult to. You're so comfortable and kind to him, and you're his rock. “I love you too, honey.” You agree with him before you connect your lips against his. He tastes like hot chocolate and marshmallows and love. Adoration. Enthralling love.

You're too love-sick dumb teenagers with a death wish as you hold onto him and practically float in his arms. He's yours, and you're his.

it was routine, you and ponyboy would hang out almost as soon as you two woke up until the night where you two would just soak in each other’s warmth talking about things while his fingers would play with a strand of your hair while yours would play with the drawstrings of his blue plaid pajama pants. you and ponyboy had been dating for at least 6 months now having known each other for a year ever since dally and johnny’s deaths, you had really been the first person to come up to ponyboy to share your condolences for his recent losses he had never seen you before and he wondered why you would care until you told him about how you used to stay at the same place dally would and you two would talk through the party until you got tired so it was evident that two got close during those long talks. pony was only slightly stunned that you meant basically the same to dally as johnny did. after then you two got close, hanging out often, going to the movies, walking through town until the sun started coming up and it didn’t take long for pony to gain feelings for you.

the idea of ponyboy reading to you came up while you were looking through his pile of book as you listened to whatever story he was telling you about when you interrupted turning in your heel to look at the brunette boy who was currently sitting on his bed playing with a yoyo he stole from two-bit, “sweetie.” you called looking down at the back of the book cover reading the summary of the book hearing him hum making you look up walking over to his bed. “you think you could read this to me?” you asked sweetly seeing him looking at you through his eyelashes before speaking “lemme see honey.” he reached out his hand looking at the book once you handed it to him, he hadn’t read it before so he figured why not. “sure thing sweetheart, we can do that.” he smiled at you and that’s how you guys started this daily read. days like today you would end up at his side as his arm wrapped around your shoulder and your head slightly rested on his chest messing with either his drawstrings or you nails, his voice was soothing you tonight like a lullaby it must’ve been the lack of sleep that morning that drew you to fall asleep. it took a little for ponyboy to notice you fell asleep until he moved his arm to turn the page and he noticed your eyes shut he started at you for a while admiring you a small smile fading to his face, pony shut the book setting it next to his bedside table and he turned off his light laying next to you his arm wrapping around you pulling your back to his chest as he focused on your breathing and heartbeat as it lured him to a peaceful sleep..

rain pattered on the roof of the curtis house, the only other noise being the music and occasional crackling of the old record player that sat on a wooden side table. you sat on the couch awaiting the arrival of the gang, basking in the calm before the storm. the storm being a group of riled up boys who haven't felt the severities of their injuries because of the adrenaline pumping through them. just as you expected, your peace was disrupted by the loud yelling you heard coming from the front yard.

they must've won, you thought as they opened the door.

you heard darry quickly scold steve for almost ripping it out of the frame, causing you to let out a small laugh. you stood up, immediately searching for ponyboy. he was the last to come in, and as per usual, his injuries consisted of some cuts and bruises that would heal themselves. he greeted you by wrapping his arms around you tightly, his wet clothes dampening yours.

"you're wet, pony," you giggled, ruffling his hair.

"sorry," he apologized sheepishly.

"we won, y/n," soda informed you, earning some hollers from steve and two-bit.

"i assumed so," you responded.

"you sound like pony," steve commented, reaching into the fridge.

"steve, do you mind washing your dirty fucking hands before you stick it in the cake?" you scolded, placing a small slap on the back of his head.

"language!" darry said, provoking some protests.

you turned around, ready to defend yourself, but instead let out a laugh. it was the first time you'd properly looked at darry. his face was covered in bruises and cuts, his fists were bloody, his shirt was ripped and he had a couple bruises scattered around his arms.

"jesus christ, what did you, wrestle a gorilla?" you commented sarcastically.

"yeah, yeah," darry rolled his eyes.

"if you think he's bad, you should see the other guy," johnny added.

"come on," you said, tilting your head towards the kitchen where you had a first aid kit out.

"what?" darry asked.

"what do you mean what? you think i'm gonna let you guys walk around with infected cuts, looking like a pack of rabid dogs?" you said, stating the obvious.

this was followed by numerous objections until they finally gave in. you cleaned up all of their cuts as they iced their bruises. you were too focused on them and the conversations you were having to notice pony sitting at the table staring at you. you had helped everyone but him as he didn't need it.

when you finished, pony went up to give you a hug from behind, his cold clothes causing you to flinch a little.

"pony, why don't you get out of those wet clothes. you're gonna catch a cold," you said, dismissing his hug.

he pouted slightly, but you didn't notice. you sat down on the couch and began watching tv with those around. after a while, you noticed ponyboy hadn't come back. it's as of soda read your mind.

"where'd pony go?" he asked.

"i don't know. i told him to go change out of his wet clothes and he never came back. i'll go check on him," you said, to which soda agreed.

first, you went to his room but found it empty.

"pony?" you called.

as you walked around the small house, you noticed the bathroom door slightly open. you slowly pushed it, peeking your head through the crack. there stood pony, running his knuckles under cold water. his jaw was clenched as he muttered incomprehensible words in a hushed tone.

"pony?" you said gently, entering the small bathroom.

he jumped at the sound of your voice.

"jesus, y/n, you can't just sneak up on people like that," he said in a tone he'd never used before, at least not with you. he was also refusing to look you in the eye.

"what's wrong? i told you to go get out of your wet clothes and then you disappeared," you spoke.

"yeah right," he mumbled, rolling his eyes.

"huh?" you asked, confusion written across your face.

"it's nothing, don't worry about it. just go hang out with the rest of the gang," he said. he wore an almost distasteful expression as he said the end of his sentence. that's when it clicked in your head.

"ponyboy," you smirked, "are you jealous?"

"what- no," he denied, his face turning a light shade of pink.

"oh my god! you are!" you whisper-yelled.

"i am not!" he responded, his eyes finally locking with yours. he saw how amused you looked at his behaviour, a smile spread across your lips. he seemed to be fighting back a smile as well, trying to keep the conversation as serious as possible.

"are you jealous because i helped take care of the other guys and i didn't do you?" you asked.

he quickly looked down, his face turning redder than it had before. you placed your hand on his chin, pushing it up gently so that his eyes would meet yours again.

"pony, you know you're the only one for me," you whispered, nearing your faces so your lips were almost touching.

he made the final move, leaning his head forward to close the gap that was left. the kiss was slow and gentle with no intention of going any further. once you pulled away, you took his hands in yours, placing tender kisses on his bruised knuckles.

"i'm sorry," you apologized once done.

"it's okay, i shouldn't have gotten so upset over it," he said.

"it's not your fault you got upset, but please tell me next time, okay?" you asked to which he nodded.

"now, what do you say we go out there and play cards so i can kick your ass, as per usual?" you suggested, a smile playing on your lips.

"yeah right, just you wait," he joked, returning your bright smile.

You were a soc. He was a greaser. Your family were extremely strict so any contact with people from the Northside was forbidden. Your father demanded so. At school, Ponyboy did his best to talk to you and ask you out but you always shut his advances down. "Knock it off Ponyboy!" You'd scold. Why couldn't he get the hint?

It was a merry Saturday afternoon and you were working your shift at the local record store in Southside. Inside was busy packed with customers, some required your help whilst others browsed in their own time. You were preoccupied stacking records together at the back of the store when suddenly the speakers cut out and the music stopped.

Glancing towards the middle of the store, you froze. Ponyboy Curtis was standing on a table for everyone to see. When his eyes settled on you, he smiled. With a frown, you approached him. "What the hell are you doing?!" You hissed. "Y/n," he appeared a little apprehensive "This song is dedicated to you." Bewildered, you stood there as he began to sing 'A Teenager in Love' by Dion and the Belmonts. It was evident he had been practising although he was still no Dion DiMucci. The customers whispered and pointed and you felt mortified. Your jaw clenched and your eyes narrowed. Ponyboy noticed your reaction but still carried on with a sheepish expression.   When he came to an end, you turned the store speakers back on. "Show's over!" You called out. The customers acted as if nothing happened and continued with their personal business. Ponyboy jumped down as you stormed out of the back door and into a back garden that was reserved for workers only.   "Y/n?" Pony had followed you.   "How could you do that to me?"   "I wanted to impress you..."   "By humiliating me at work in front of customers?"   Poor Ponyboy, he felt awful. He hadn't exactly planned for you to react this way. "I didn't mean to embarrass you, I only meant to show you how I feel about you," he said quietly. Your arms crossed. "I can't. We can't do this. I've told you to knock it off so many times because you know how my father-"   "I don't give a toss about your old man Y/n!"   Pony's sudden outburst silenced you. "I don't care what your dad thinks. I like you, I always have. All I want is to be able to go on dates with you, to be able to show you that I'm more than just a Northside greaser. I'm a greaser with a heart and feelings and god dammit maybe I'm stupid for thinking I ever had a chance with you."   He rambled on, you listened to every word deeply. It was then that you started to realize this wasn't fake or phoney, he genuinely wanted to pursue a possible relationship with you. Your father had drilled it into your mind that greasers were low lives and weren't good enough for people like you.   He was wrong.   Stepping forward, your hand on Ponyboy's cheek shushed him. "You really like me huh?" You couldn't help but break into a small smile. He nodded. "I'm sorry about that stunt I just pulled-" he quickly apologized only to be cut off by you kissing him. Goosebumps ran along his body, yours too.   After many failed attempts he finally had you where he wanted. Tight in his embrace, his arms wrapped around your back protectively. Just you and him. You pulled away first, his face was blushing bright red. "So..." You began slowly "How about that drive-in date you've been bugging me about for weeks?"   "I'd like that. Can I kiss you again?"   You nodded so Pony swooped in and kissed you again. It was a great kiss, slow and passionate, only to be interrupted by your boss minutes later. "I need you sorting through stocks," she said firmly before disappearing again. "I have to get back to work," you sighed, you were starting to enjoy yourself in his company.   "I'll wait for you," Pony tucked a strand of hair behind your ear.   That was admirable, you thought. Realistically, you still had five hours to go so you didn't hold any hope. Ponyboy left and you were back to stacking records, your mind still consumed by him. A Teenager in Love was officially yours and Pony's song, it had to be. You couldn't not think of him whenever you heard it.   At the end of your shift, you packed your belongings and helped to close the store. You were tired, having dealt with such a long day and still annoyed with your boss for ruining the moment. You were about to walk home when you looked across the street and there he was.   Ponyboy Curtis was sitting on a bench in the dark still waiting for you.   Your eyes met his and he smiled at you proudly.

“whaddya mean?” johnny said, cocking an eyebrow as he began taking out items from the crate.

pony gestured to the girl passed out on the floor, johnny’s jean jacket now under her head.

“man, what happened? she alright?” johnny said, walking over to pony and looking at the girl, leaning over her.

“i dunno. i woke up and saw her looking at me and she screamed and then she fell and hit ‘er head.”

pony shrugged.

“you really scared her, then?” johnny said, teasingly to pony.

“man, quit it.” pony said, crossing his arms.

a beat passed.

“she’s pretty.” johnny remarked, sitting down next to pony.

“yeah, real pretty. and i might justa killed her” pony mumbled, staring at the girl.

“aw, cmon pone. don’t be like that. she ain’t bleeding or nothin’ is she?”

“no.” pony huffed 

“besides, i got ya something.” johnny said, rummaging through the crate and pulling out a copy of Gone With the Wind 

“whee! a paperback copy of Gone with the Wind! How’d you know I always wanted to read this book?” Pony asked, excitedly jumping up and approaching Johnny.

Johnny reddened.

"I remembered you sayin' something about it once. And me and you went to see that movie,'member? I thought you could maybe read it out loud and help kill time or something."

"gee, thanks.” Pony said, setting the book down.

“shh!” johnny suddenly said, eyes focused on the female figure laying down next to pony.

“huh?” pony said, turning around and watching the girl stir.

“crap, man. what do we do?” johnny whispered, looking at pony with wide eyes.

“how should i know?” pony whisper-shouted, watching as the girl opened her eyes.

“ ‘least you didn’t kill her.” johnny remarked.

About: Y/n comes to study as Ponyboy’s house for the evening..

I make my way to Curtis's house whistling in a happy mood though I was a little tired from classes and from the running we did in P.E. I make sure I have the right books and papers for the project. I surprise myself realizing that I already arrived at the Curtis house and before I could knock on the door, it swings open.

"Y/n!" he says like a golden retriever greeting its owner if that makes any sense.

"Hi, Curtis!-"

He cuts me off with a hug, with his arms around my waist. I find myself standing there awkwardly before I hug him back. That was completely random but Im not complaining, I completely love it.

This felt nice, he's those guy who hugs all the time. Interesting I smirk a little.

He pulls away and gently takes my hand dragging me in.

"Want a Pepsi?" He says enthusiastically.

I nod and go to sit on the couch. While he heads to the kitchen.

...

What's taking this boy so long, is it hard to get a Pepsi? I decide to organize my papers and book on the small table in front, but even after that he’s still taking a long time. I feel my eyes flicker a lot and I doze off to sleep forgetting about everything.

....

I find my eyes blinking open, not seeing the tv or anything but I see Ponyboy. He's very close from what I'm seeing, but damn he looks beautiful.

"Ponyboy?.."

I mumble having my eyes open now.

It looks like he's back to reality and he backs off startled by my voice. He's blushing a lot, with his ears pink too. He seems very flustered and then I become too after realizing what he was doing.

"Were you trying to kiss me?" a smirk growing on my face.

"No.."

He says looking away giving a great view of his ears being the shade of pink.

"Liar!" I laugh my ass off.

"Oh lay off!" He says now slumping on the couch with his arms crossed now. With him looking the other way I take the chance to peck his mouth. I was more shy then I usually was, and acting like I haven’t kiss this boy ever. I back up and see him blush more now looking at me.

"Do that again."

He says while both of us maintain eye contact.

I feel myself holding away from the anticipation glancing at his lips.

"Do what?" I decide to ease with a smile knowingly I’m about to break.

"This."

He goes in gently placing his lips on mine, this kiss was different more sweet not like all those other times. It didn't get heated it was more passionate, with our tounges dancing and such. Breathing heavily and groans shared in between the kiss. Right after he pulls away, wiping off the salvia on the corner of his mouth.

"You taste sweet."

He says, now realizing our position changed with him on top of me the whole time during the kiss.

I turn red and looked away before I could become redder by just looking at him. He pecks my cheek with kisses several times before I noticed on the table in the middle of the room. A plate with a sandwich and a Pepsi.

I look back up to him on top of me.

"Is that why it was taking you a little too long to just get a Pepsi?"

"Yep." he chuckles while getting off of me so I could eat.

"Thank you." I smile at him.

"Your welcome love."

I get a little startled by what he called so I turn to the food and start taking a bite.

After working on some homework from school together it ends up being night faster than I thought. I guess the day does go faster when your having fun.

"I'm heading out Curtis," I say while getting my book back. His face turns a little sad but he soon becomes understanding.

"You sure you don't want me to walk you home?"

He says opening the door for me.

"It's okay, I'm alright." I smile as I walk out.

Though right as I do it's freezing. I quickly walk back in.

"Huh?"

I look up at him. "It's freezing.." I tell him while shivering a bit outside. The weather out here is so bipolar. He wanders off somewhere at a quick pace.

"Ponyboy?" I say wondering where he went. He comes back with a jacket and then puts it over my shoulders.

"It's mine, so you could just return it tomorrow if you want." he's grinning when putting it on me. I breathe in the scent of cigarettes.

I chuckle a bit while properly putting the jacket on. We stand there quietly not wanting to say goodbye. His face later though comes to the realization of something. He comes closer to me, but I don't back away I stay where I am.

"Can I be your boyfriend?" he says quietly having his face inches away from mine smirking cause we’re already together.

He leans in more and kisses me again, gently and passionately. I try to push him away so I can answer him properly but the boy won’t keep his hands off still having his hands on my waist.

“You already know the answer Ponyboy!”! I say now laughing that he’s gotten closer.

I kiss him again pressing my lips on his, wrapping my arms around his neck..

Best night ever.
