Gonna pre order Re:Mind when I get paid this friday because preordering fucking DLC is the level of slut Iâm currently at for Kingdom Hearts to be honest
Good news if you gets your comics through Comixology! You can preorder through them just like at a physical store, and it apparently counts.
Hiya Yâall aka Kill Zone ramblings!
I am still working on my third... or is it fourth... crap lost count... draft of my book. Working title is still Kill Zone though I suspect it might get changed.Â
I am blown away by all the support and sweet responses I have gotten about a book that is not even on sale yet. For that very reason I am looking into the possibility of you guys being able to preorder it from me directly.Â
What does this mean?
- You wouldnât get the book ahead of time! It is very important for me to stress this fact. Shipping takes time and it needs to get to me before it gets to you.Â
- If you do this you will have to pay extra for shipping and handling. I donât yet know how much and it will also depend on where in the world you live.Â
- The only reason you should decide to do this is you are interested in getting your copy signed along with a personalized messaged from me.Â
If this is something you are interested in let me know.Â
You are not commiting to anything by answering yes to this post. This is simply just me trying to figure out if I should put work into trying to figure out the costs and logistics of something like this.Â
PUBLIC SERVICE ANNOUNCEMENT
If you want to support Illyana appearting in Secret Warriors (starting) in November, it might be a very good idea to let your local comic shop know about it--either officially preordering or at least letting them know that there will be interest.
Iâve been taking a look at the sales reports, and it doesnât look like Secret Warriors is a book that is too widely available, or that is particularly sure of its future. If it supports Illyana, letâs support it in return, yes?
Thatâs issues 8 and 9, coming in November.
Come on, letâs organize and make Marvel notice that books get a boost whenever they announce they feature Illyana!
(It should go without saying, but if you get your shop to order extra copies, then also make sure to go buy those copies, donât stick the retailers with the bill.)
Oh, wow, this is dumb-- I preordered the last Raksura book so long ago that the credit card I used has in the interim expired, and instead of going ahead and processing it with the new credit card I have on file, or like, notifying me at all, Amazon was just sitting there with a little flag on the order saying âwelp we canât sell you this book because your credit card in November isnât your credit card now and gosh we just donât know how to use the new one youâve been using for the last seven months!â until I went in and told it to do that, so.Â
Sigh. Now itâs âpendingâ. Iâve been, like, reinstalling software on my Kindle because I thought the thing was broken. Oh well.
Now I know! Preorder things and make sure you use an eternal method of payment! I actually thought theyâd taken the money out already, which being a seller on Amazon, I should know is not how it works. But. Weâll see.
The consolation is that Iâve been rereading other stories while waiting for my Kindle to work, so itâs not like I havenât had a lovely morning anyway.
Stop Preordering Games (Real Talk)
The other day I was thinking about pre-ordering Mass Effect Andromeda because Iâm so hyped up for it. But I didnât because my boyfriend and I have decided to stop giving in to this culture of preordering games.Â
Why?
Because preordering a game without knowing what itâs like is a detriment to the industry.Â
What it essentially teaches game companies is this: It doesnât matter what the actual content of the game is; what matters is the marketing strategy you use to entice gamers into making a hasty decision to preorder a game they may or may not even like. (No Manâs Sky was a perfect example of this.)
Video game reviews and word of mouth used to be a bigger contributing factor as to why people bought certain games. If a professional critic you agreed with told you it was actually worth your time or money to buy a game, youâd be more likely to purchase it. But reviews are also the sort of the thing that can make or break a game before it even comes out, and publishers know this. If IGN gave a game a 5.5/10, it would be bad for business. Thus, retailers and game companies bypass the hump by providing preordering.Â
By getting you committed into purchasing a game in advance, you've basically just told them that you, as a consumer, are totally cool spending $60 on a game simply based on itâs marketing strategy.Â
Itâs that time again: monthly preorders!
This monthâs orders are due February 18th. Get them in as soon as you can!
Why preorder at your LCS? Thatâs how your shop knows how much of a book to get, and sales to comic shops are the sales that Diamond tracks and reports. These numbers, in turn, are what publishers pay attention to, and can be make-or-break for some books. Preordering is the best way to support your favorite titles.
Do you not have an LCS, and/or purchase your comics digitally? Good news! Comixology allows you to make preorders just like for physical copies, and as far as I know, they count just the same.
This monthâs selections are:
Batwoman Vol. 2: Wonderland
Mother Panic: Gotham A.D. #2
Batwoman #14 (regular and variant)
Detective Comics #978-#979
Bombshells United #15-#16
Batman and the Signal TPB
